1977 Datsun 280z.

A beaut.

I wrapped that sporty dark green puppy around a telephone pole my first semester of college.

A year later I bought a 1978 Toyota Corolla and drove that little putt-putt for years.

I am these days on my 11th year with a black Korando jeep I am thoroughly pleased with. There are only a couple of vehicles I'd replace it with.

My dad had a Jeep CJ-5 and I ached for one.

I've never had one but i suspect i might foolishly splurge my pension refund on one in my fifties.

A sherman tank disguised as a 1983 Buick Regal. The rear windows didn’t roll down by design. My friends called it the cop car.

1979 Pontiac Acadian. Absolute garbage but I didn't care because I don't give a damn about cars. They're a necessary evil. I'm a motorbike guy.

When I lived in Australia in the late 1970s I drove a Holden Statesman...had a pretty good job, so could afford one.

My first car was a beautiful 1991 Chrysler sundance. Drove that into the ground till I sold it to go into a destruction derby.

A total pile of junk that our neighbor had for sale in his driveway for about 6 months. It literally caught on fire 2 or 3 times while I was driving it and then, miraculously, managed to perform normally during the test drive when we took it to the dealer as a trade-in.

I do miss the navy velour bench seats though. Sexy as hell.
I miss those old 1980s couch cars. Even mid-size sedans were like that. I got to go through two midsize 80s sedans in my time, a Dodge Dynasty and a Plymouth Reliant. Nice front bench and steering column shift. Handled like shit but were smooth. Not the best cars by any means, but they had their charm. Looking back, I wish I had gotten a big Buick or something. But that was when everyone wanted to drive rice racers and do tuning and crap and so did I for about 5 years. My favorite though was my Monte Carlo. Nice low-key pseudo-luxury coupe.

The car hierarchy of cool is this-
1. Sports Sedans
2. Full-Size Couch Cars
3. Trucks
4. Luxury Coupes
5. Sports Cars
6. True Jeeps
7. Full-Size Vans
8. SUVs
9. Sport Wagons
10. Family Sedans
11. Compacts
12. Minivans
