Lizzo's impact on the world
« on: January 23, 2020, 03:28:15 pm »
Time Magazine named her entertainer of the year.

The Associated Press called her performer of the year.

She has eight Grammy nominations, more than anyone else.

She's the hottest thing in American music.

And what is most popular in America is most popular in the world.

Never did I think I'd see the day when an obese woman in skimpy clothing would be a chart topping sex symbol. Watching her videos feels like I'm in the twilight zone.

She's being hailed as a brave feminist icon for promoting fat positivity, but is that a good thing?

The normalization of obesity reduces the odds women will stay slender / lose weight.

Corpulence is sloth. It's laziness. To say it's good isn't heroic; in fact I'd say it's the opposite.

Overall the United States is force for good in the world, but it saddens me to see the exportation of obesity, ebonics, vulgarity, ghetto culture, ratchet culture.

(I met thin, humble, polite, innocent, endearing women from various countries across the globe; it's a shame that's disappearing.)

When I saw Lizzo twerking in a thong on the Lakers jumbotron , I thought, "Ouch! My eyes!" ... and that she's a bad example for kids / teens / young adults.

Same when she was twerking at a fast food counter in the tightest booty shorts imaginable.

"Ah!" I gasped aloud.

She falsely accused a food deliverer of stealing her food ... causing harassment by fans. What a rotten thing to do!

I listened to a bit of her music. The words were something to the effect of "I'm the baddest b****. I'm fine as h***. All the n***** want to f*** me.

Which is why I'm surprised Barack Obama is a fan.

A lot of “civilization” is about going against our nature.

We evolved in a world of food scarcity to store energy to survive famine. Our modern access to whatever food we want whenever we want it means that we get fat if we don’t act against our nature.

The ultimate double standard that exposes the farce of modern day body positivity.

Slim, healthy, fit women on billboards promoting gyms, workout supplements?  Damaging to society.

A morbidly obese woman wearing next to nothing shaking her arse in everyone's face?  More of that please!

Bill Maher got slammed for this, but it's pretty much completely spot on:

If current trends continue, about 50 percent of Americans will be obese by 2030, according to a new study.

Currently, around one-third, or 33 percent of Americans are obese.

Sounds a lot like 'Black Beatles'.

How do people not hear that?

Can't believe she hasn't been sued.

And why is there loud applause at the 2:41 mark? Yuck!

People who spend time dieting, sculpting their bodies through hard work and dedication? Bad.

Fat f***ers who prance around on stage, have no talent apart from being fat and eating buckets of chicken every day? Good.

The absolute state of the progressive world these days.
Haven't you got some pictures of birds to be jacking off to, son?

Colburnnn: Complains a lot, very sassy. Has a loudmouth.

I'm reading Lizzo's Twitter. Yikes!

"If my name is in your mouth, so is my p***y, b***h. Enjoy the flavor."

This must be to you, since you are the one giving her so much attention today!

Why do a bunch of ‘anti-sjw’, ‘anti-pc’ snowflakes have their knickers in a twist over something that is beyond their interest zone or their capability to understand?

I don’t know much about Lizzo other than people are talking about her...I’m not even inclined to search out her music because I literally have zero interest.

But this bitchfest over here...ironic given how it’s by the often usual suspects who want others to ‘suck it up’ whenever they face bigotry or discrimination.

I don't know about other posters but the thread piqued my interest because music is my main passion so I've been really interested in her rise and how divisive she is.  I think her music is fine but obviously I fall on one side of the argument which is that I don't believe we should be rewarding people for showing off their thong and shaking their arse at a basketball game where families and young children are around.  If a non famous person did that, we'd call it mental illness wouldn't we?  Why do celebrities get a pass?

Body positivity is a huge issue too.  People are rightly calling out the double standard.

I don't know what you mean by "something that is beyond their capability to understand".  The fact that she's black?

If people like her...people like her. The variety of reasons people like her is what is ‘beyond your capability to understand’.

It’s the same way bts fans’ intense obsession with the group is beyond my capability to understand...but I don’t get my knickers in a twist over it.

Lizzo isn’t doing anything to make your life any harder or inconvenience you...find something else to focus your energy on...or as the usual suspects in this thread tend to say, ‘suck it up’.

Are you filling the customary De Martino role of coming on here to criticise people for having nothing better to do than to criticise people?

Nah, I’m just pointing out the irony and hypocrisy of grown men crying about something they have zero control over...while they insist they in fact are the strong ones and the rest of the world needs to toughen up and go back to the good old days.

disagree.  her behavior and influence may affects me indirectly because women are getting fatter and fatter and think it's sexy.  so now the dating pool is shrinking (while also enlarging nomsayin) .the media bigwig jews promote this for a reason.  you ccan't get famous unless marketers and hollywood promote your trash.   it's already chosen who will be thrusted into influence and right now it's  all about degradation, vulgarity, gluttony, and so on. basically any sin is now celebrated.  society will be shit in no time.

Are you channeling Mel Gibson or is this just glorious you unmasked?

Judging by this, there is a very high possibility that your dating pool was already in a very shrunken state before Lizzo came along...thankfully you’re in the most populous region in the world where a large (but shrinking) part of the female population still dig western guys.

The number who dig Western guys isn't shrinking, it's the number who dig Western guys who are English teachers abroad.

I think Lizzo at the Laker game was a bit much, but the lady has talent. I mean, the whole body-positivity thing can go a bit far, but at the end of the day, I kind of agree. She's a singer and it seems people are getting wayyyy too bent out of shape about her.

People in general love her. The media lavishes praise on her gushing about how she's a refreshing breath of fresh air role model ... because she's proud of being fat I guess. Is that what the world needs? Someone to tell severely overweight people they're hot and sexy the way they are and don't need to change?

I tried to watch this video, but could not understand what was being said.

I looked up the lyrics, and I still don't understand:

Quote from: Jesse St John / Melissa Viviane Jefferson / Ricky Reed / Steven Cheung
I'ma hit you back in a minute
I don't play tag, bitch, I been it
We don't **** with lies, we don't do goodbyes
We just keep it pushing like aye yi yi
I'ma hit you back in a minute
I don't play tag, bitch, I been it
We don't **** with lies, we don't do goodbyes
We just keep it pushing like aye yi yi

It took four people to write this. It took one dude to write Bohemian Rhapsody.
Does your wife submit to you?
