Middle School Grade 2 & 3 Bi-Sang Lime and Orange books
« on: May 18, 2011, 10:35:41 am »
Let's be honest - these books by Bi-Sang are almost entirely difficult to find!
But I thought I would start a thread for people (is there anyone out there?) with these books.

Lime green - 'IDEA' written on it with nerdy guy.
Orange - 'magic' with a magician

I will be attaching some powerpoints ( Which I MUST thank fellow amazing Waygook users for) Never Fear. I will start creating my own once I get my head around this crazy gig that is teaching!

 :P
P.s these lessons I found on Waygook saved my life the first month! I'm now gliding into month 2.

Amanda!

Haha how are you? Right - now I am one topic behind you in this book atm...aka Working on Are You Happy next week/end of this week...

Once again - strange topic. But the moment I've got something I'll let you know!

I'm thinking of doing a powerpoint on a students favourite things - things that make them 'happy'...

Hey Fran.... Geez  I'm trying to come up with an interesting idea...this topic is so weird...maybe something to do with the sound of music...My favourite things....I dont know....I start this chapter next week, but I have to teach the listening part first so I've still got some time....Maybe I'll show them funny video clips from Americas Funniest Home Videos and get them to say something in the same format as the modeled sentences in the book...

So here is my lesson from
G1 Middle School Lesson 5: Birthdays Around the World.
I think that you can use this PPT and lesson idea for any class...I used it in a Grade 3 class and they liked learning about these things too,  I've also got a few versions of the PPT and hadouts.
I did this actual lesson in an open class, and it worked well too.

Hi There!

This is my PPT for My Favourite Things (aka Lesson 6, Situation 1 Are you Happy?)  - obviously I'm still working on one more aspect of it (aka tonight!) because I get the feeling this wont be long enough...although you could incorporate group work and all groups talking about their favourite things - or what song they made up...but it's a start :)

fyi - I can't take credit for this ppt - found it somewhere on here on Waygook, but it was fabulous for this lesson so thanks to the person who came up with it.

Hope it helps those souls with these hard to come by books

Grade 1, Middle School, Lesson 6: Why Don't You Work Out?
Here's my lesson on Health, and words related to sickness.
It covers answering qustions like: what's the matter?, gives examples of problems like runny nose or headache, and teaches 3 ways to give advice, such as Why don't you...?
I used the car race template and incorperated the words and phrases from the PPT into the game.  I might also make a short handout...not sure if I need one yet...

I really think I might cry.  I thought I was the only one in all of Korea using these books.  This work looks great you guys.  I'll try and contribute what I can.  My school has me making lessons from the Language and Culture section of each chapter.  So far it's been okay, but looking ahead I think I may be in trouble.  Last chapter (2nd Chapter 5) I basically had two lessons on Comparative and Superlative adjectives.  Super boring.  Especially for the kids.  Lesson 6 looks to be equally as challenging...Don't get me started on third grade.  I'll try and help out!!!

Why hello there Guys!

Well look who is coming out of the woodwork. I must admit, it helps to know I'm not alone. I started about three months ago now and was horrified [having NEVER taught English before] when I visited Waygook and couldn't find a soul who had the same books. Getting used to it now - but as per, any help is appreciated.

I'm currently working on lesson 7, Grade 3 "Aha Moments"...did a powerpoint on Oceans the other day but the kids looked a bit shell shocked so might find another science one. Will post somemore material soon!

Below is something for Grade 2...maybe Grade 1 or 3 depending on levels on the topic 'will you join me?' complete with bingo game.

Cheers :)

Here's something for G3s.  I made this quick ppt to review material for their upcoming test.  I used it today with my more advanced G3 class and I think they cound it helpful.  I'm going to have to input this info into one of the review game templates for my lower level classes.  And I made a wordsearch with some of the vocabulary words.
