Deleting a contact permanently on Kakaotalk

Hi

Does anyone know how to delete a contact permanently on Kakaotalk?

Given that you don't have them on your phone contact list.

From the friends menu, swipe left on the contact, and hide them.

From there, manage friends, go to hidden list and then click manage next to their profile, you now have the option to delete them.

It’s not nearly as hard as, say, deleting a Facebook account, but yeah, harder than it needs to be.

Also, I’m pretty sure you can’t delete and block at the same time, so if you delete an contact, they could still send you messages.

Yep.  Kakaotalk is bit wonky in that sense.  If they still have your number on their phone, then they'll continue to show up on your 'recommended friends'.  You can delete their number from your phone, and you'll disappear from their recommended friends on their phone.  So you can only hope they lose their phone and all their contacts, then they'll disappear forever.  Into some kind of abyss.  Or a hole.

Thanks. I don't have their number only a Kakaotalk ID.

I did remove the contact before but I received an message from them again.

They should make it so that you are able to remove a contact without appearing on their contact list .. instead of having them on a blocklist.

So annoying!!

There was one teacher at an elementary school I popped into maybe four years ago to pick something up, who managed to get hold of my number from his school.  So he sent a message on Kakaotalk and politely I replied but standoffishly.  This is not someone I would see ever again, and to be honest he was a bit weird as well.  Then three years ago, he started sending me messages which I didn't reply to.  I just deleted that chat.  Then after a couple of years, he sends me a couple of messages last week.  I deleted without checking.  Do some people not take a hint?
