How much race relations has changed in 7 years
« on: July 28, 2020, 06:40:52 am »
It's unbelievable how much the mood has changed recently with regards to race relations in the US, and to a lesser extent the UK. Following on from the deleted discussion the other day where a bunch of us were called White Supremacists, here's Don Lemon saying much the same thing in 2013.  There's no question he'd be cancelled and vilified for this in 2020. Strange times

What do you guys mean? When you think of people who say things that will convince the other side, isn't the first person that comes to your mind "John Stossel"?

If there's anyone who is known for persuading across the aisle, it's him!

I think you're naive on this one. The idea that those on the left/liberals/progressives will be persuaded by arguments/facts/data when it comes from a persuasive voice on their side of the aisle has been proven false a million times. When such a person voices such arguments they immediately become Othered by the progressive tribe and get mentioned in a New York Times piece in the same sentence as "Alt-right adjacent", "right wing" or some other bollox, or just excoriated by woke twitter. See: Sam Harris, Brett Weinstein, Steven Pinker et al.
Does your wife submit to you?

All of whom will bring some of their fans over. Not all, maybe not even a majority, but they will bring some.

John Stossel and Thomas Sowell only work on people who are just forming their political opinions and are blank slates, not as people who genuinely make people pause.

I'm offering a 17,000 won bounty for Dave Rubin's head.
Does your wife submit to you?

The thread was about how quickly views expressed by people on the left have become heretical. Not the persuasiveness of John Stossel's moustache

Oh look another white supremacy get-together thread.

Do I leave my white robes at the door? Can I keep the MAGA hat on?
