Since any comment about a job posting gets deleted on the actual job thread, I guess we need a different one.Should potential employers be allowed to post a vacancy with no mention of salary? Isn't that one of the most important things about the position?I get that this is something that could be discussed at an interview, but am I going to travel 3-4 hours, invest in train tickets, taxi fares, to be told the position is offering 1.9million a month? There seems to be a general distain for clearly mentioning the pay when listing positions. Why?
well it's just a big red flag, isn't it. i would never bother applying for a job that doesn't mention salary.
Yes, also you get crap jobs in all countries so why bother needlessly pointing out salaries of 2.1 being too low and how it's like 2003 again? Ignore those jobs. If you're stupid enough to jump in without due diligence then that's on you. Are we surprised that most hagwons offer crap salaries? No. Are we surprised that most hagwons are badly run? No. Ignore crap jobs.
while it's true that wages for these kind of jobs haven't gone up for years, the jobs that offer 2.1m are still entry-level jobs that require few/no qualifications. if you are not happy with that wage, get better qualifications
I only got one GCSE and it was an 'E' in History. And Mrs Matthews said I'd never be a high-flyer.
I have responded to job ads that have said salary is "negotiable". I don't waste my time. I respond with a specific salary I am looking for. I NEVER get a reply to those.
It's because of stupid people taking them because they don't know math or numbers that a lot of scumbag hogwan owners try to pull this garbage.
However, if folks quit accepting those jobs and being stupid, then wages would rise quickly. It's because of stupid people taking them because they don't know math or numbers that a lot of scumbag hogwan owners try to pull this garbage.
That's a cop out. Entry level with inflation for the same jobs and pay would be upper 2's today. Jobs for experience should be low to mid 3.0's to have same spending power. Either way, 2.1 is almost minimum wage and using the entry level garbage when 2.9 was paid in today's money 12 years ago. They were entry level then too. If the owners have raised their fees since then, they can afford to pass along to teachers. Salaries may still be a bit below the inflation targets but with reason. Say 2.5 to 3.0. I have seen a few Gananam kindies advertise that on some Facebook groups. Though I am sure they are very picky.
