Hi,
I'm soliciting advice for finding positions soon. I'm looking for work ASAP in/near Seoul or Jeollado Gwangju. I've been on facebook, eslrok and eslcafe contacting recruiters and employers, but not having much luck. Has anyone had success posting a resume or should I network more to have success?
(-) I'm not in Korea (currently in USA)
(+) Master's in education; licensed teacher (ESOL, P.E., Health K-12) 12 yrs experience (10 in Korea); TESOL, TOPIK (Korean language profiency) and Business English certs; docs ready for visa application
My lack of luck over the last few months is presumably due to being in the U.S. (or aging out at 34). Initially, I'd hoped that resume/references would open doors as they have previously, but not having luck finding anything outside of the typical low 2s, 9am-6pm, 25+ teaching hrs/week at hagwons. Pay is acceptable, but hours aren't.
I'm flexible on nearly all conditions except the need for a visa and avoiding long hours (preferably 6 office hours or less, 25 weekly teaching hrs or less). Public (or private public) school work is ideal, but with semester starting in 3 weeks, but short hours hagwon is more likely.
I was on a points-based F visa for 4 years so this sudden lack of interest/success has been humbling. I'd rather not wait until March for hopes of another uni or public school job. Also, this is my first time applying to hagwons so any specific advice (yes, I know they can be cagey) is appreciated.
Thanks for the input.
