Work PC stuck in airplane mode
« on: November 09, 2020, 12:17:51 pm »
So I am trying to connect to the internet via our classroom wifi, but I can't turn off the airplane mode. I also check the adapters settings and there is no wifi icon. I did find the WLAN settings and switched it from manual to automatic. I found a few webpages giving advice how to turn off the airplane mode for Windows 10, but they haven't worked.

TLDR: I believe my computer has a wifi adapter but can't turn off airplane mode.

Thanks

The only advice I can offer is:

https://www.digitalcitizen.life/airplane-mode-windows-10/

I don't use Windows so I am a bit clueless, MacOS doesn't have it because they say it is only cellular that screws up the aircrafts signals and since you won't have a cellular card in your MacBook it is not necessary.

Hope you succeed.

Your WiFi adapter is probably dead...happens relatively often.

You'll need to get a USB WiFi receiver.

Ohh. It’s a new computer though about 6 months old. But it’s a generic brand.

Thanks

Assuming the wifi network itself isn't locked, or possibly made unsearchable, you may need the USB wifi receiver. You can buy them at Diaso for 5,000won, however, they don't allow for super fast speeds (I think about 150Mbps)
