Your Favorite Music Releases of the year 2020 AD.
« on: December 31, 2020, 12:27:59 pm »
I hope the title is unambiguous enough this time. I wouldn't want anyone to think I was asking for their favorite albums from 1967 again.

Aaaaaaanyway, it's that time again: Let's share our favorite music that was released in 2020. Albums, songs, musical theater(?), whatever. If it's music, was released in 2020, and you enjoyed it, post about it.

Like last time, I'm going to stick with my 10 favorite albums of the year, but there's no reason you all need to stick with that. I think I'm just going to go in alphabetical order this time rather than ranked, because I honestly can't be bothered.

Here goes nothing.

Richard Clayderman - This Time Really the Best of 2020 at The Hollywood Bowl.  What he does with his four hour rendition of Music Box Dancer is positively rapturous!

I'm not sure what this "2020 AD" refers to. If you mean AD 2020, then easily it's WAP.

God listening to people talk about their favorite music or "bands I've discovered" is boring. Equivalent to looking at holiday photos or listening to invariably dull "travel stories"

Pretty much any entertainment-centered topic is a sure sign of middling intellect at best.

I somewhat agree with you, but I have a question... is this your thing?

90% of the time I come across a post of yours, you're attacking the OP for starting what you believe to be a dumb thread or
saying something nasty to someone for posting something you find disagreeable. We all do this from time to time, but this seems to be the only time you post.

Aren't there less sad ways you could spend your time?

You somewhat agree that talking about music you like is boring and a sign of a middling intellect? That's a bit surprising.

Not at all, I've discovered some new music here and there on these threads. I just think it's not much of a discussion, all I see are posts of people saying what they listen/are listening to and if I'm honest, it sometimes does give off a 'look at me' vibe. Few actually respond to what others post.

Now, sometimes I'll have a look/listen on these threads but they're generally not my cup of tea. Others enjoy it and that's perfectly fine. What I wont do is come here, specifically to post my obligatory asshole/chimp post insulting people for enjoying things I don't.

i usually use these threads to browse other people's lists and if i see anything i already know i like in those lists, i make sure to listen to the other artists/albums that person has also posted. a kind of music discovery

Yeah, exactly. I'm part of a few music groups on FB for the same reason. Usually it's stuff that doesn't really resonate with me, but occationally there's something super awesome that I'll get to enjoy for the next few years.

It's also nice to break out of old musical ruts. I've found that my taste in music has changed quite a bit over the years, to the point where searching for music similar to my favourite songs in the past wouldn't bring up anything of interest. Life is about change, I guess, and the best way I've found to keep up is to keep exploring other peoples' recommendations and favourites and stuff.

Sure, most of it is horrible crap (no offense all  ;D), but there's gold to be found as well!
