Favourite movies you like to play for your students.

Final week or two of school, thank God, and for many of us that means playing movies. No shame, folks, it's been a long year. If I'm going to play a movie for my students it better be something I can somewhat enjoy as I'll be watching the same 40mins of it multiple times.

- Dennis the Menace (1993), playing it this week. A somewhat forgotten kids movie that gets forgotten amidst Home Alone.
I managed to find some Korean subs on Naver and the students are really enjoying it.

- Arrietty, particularly when you've got a lot of girls in your class, you can never go wrong with the magic of Studio Ghibli. Beautifully animated and beautiful music despite being a bit abrupt.

- Matilda/Home Alone, classics, but which Korean kid hasn't seen them 100 times?

- The Witches (1990), takes a while to get going, but the students reaction of absolute horror and silence of the Grand High Witch is always great.

- Lemony Snickets (A series of unfortunate events), really enjoyed this one myself. Jim Carry at his best.

Would love to play Dumb and Dumber, Addams Family and Liar Liar, but a bit too raunchy for the classroom.

I generally stick with popular animated CGI films, especially those by Disney, Pixar, or Dreamworks. Even when some students complain about being forced to watch an animated film (because they're "too old for cartoons"), they pretty much always get into it whereas half the class get bored if I show them anything else, INCLUDING the students who demanded the alternative.

I try to show the latest ones available but will fall back on lesser-known ones that students are not likely to have watched. The Croods is an all-time favorite.

I have been showing 3rd-6th grade Paddington and they love it. They have both movies on Netflix.

Scott Pilgrim would be awesome, a bit racey here and there.

If I taught high school students, particularly girls, I'd play 'Mean Girls', pretty damn funny and the bullying aspect should be quite relatable.

The Emperor's New Groove is always a go to for classes that haven't seen it the previous years.

I do not recommend Bruce Almighty. My coteacher decided to show this one to 5th graders, forgetting there is a "sex scene" with excessive moaning from Jennifer Aniston.
