Anyone done a Clue or mystery-themed camp?
« on: January 25, 2021, 11:00:17 am »
I tried searching but couldn't find anything relevant to this with searches for Clue and "clue camp."

I want to do an Among Us camp this summer and I thought a good way to do that would be to adapt materials from existing mystery or Clue-themed camps if any exist.

If you have any resources or can point me in the right direction, that would be fantastic!

there's a ton of among us themed camps, with full resources on the free site, (the one you dont need to pay for)  the words to link to it are blocked on this site.   so if you google search the first three letters of the word "Korea"  as well as the word, share, you should be able to find it pretty easily.

Among Us is still an extremely popular game, so I believe children would love it. I know they have some classes like this in the US. I'm not sure how to find these, but probably someone could help you out with this.

I've been thinking about doing such camp about Fortnite, but then Covid started and I'm not going to try to do it. Maybe next year  ;D

I think the kids would love it and I have some ideas. I don't want to drown myself in prep though so I want to use mostly stuff that's already out there. In Busan we have to use a lot of storybooks so that part itself is a lot of prep already.

I love Among Us so for me it's easier to get into my camps if I actually enjoy the content instead of trying to make a camp out of something that doesn't interest me.

Have you ever considered an escape-room-themed activity?  Materials and instructions in English.  Problem-solving where students can participate at their level without being singled out as they work together to solve a problem.   Add in a potential prize for the fastest escape and you'll have a great day (or two).  :)

This is a cool idea and still on theme since you can get locked in rooms in Among Us. I think they would love it, though it would take some thought about how I could pull it off for Grade 3-4.  I'm sure someone out there has done something like this though, so I'll look into it. They would love the idea of working out the puzzle before the impostor arrives, lol

For learning directions, I broke students into groups and they had to help there blind folded friend walk around a human sized maze. I found an easy maze online and just made it life size. I used A3 paper as a guide for the widths.I used black masking tape to make the shape of the maze. They learned step forward # of steps, step back #number of steps, turn right and turn left. It was great. The team with the fastest time got a prize. You could use this as a possible "escape" room section. It's not as mysterious but it involves students figuring out how to get out of something using English.
