Ghibli Bomb Game (upgraded)
« on: April 20, 2021, 11:18:23 am »
I took someone else's Ghibli bomb game and heavily redesigned and modified it to better suit my needs. It's incredibly media heavy, though, and not everyone's computer will be able to handle it.

If you need or want something a lot more simple, I think this is the original file (I can't confirm if this is the right one because I don't have a subscription): https://waygook.org/index.php?topic=77104.0

Approx. size: 891 mb

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sFdkS6uyvivOLbz8H8Rl8j-DL7RBNaim/view?usp=sharing

I'm pretty sure this will play okay in hanshow, but I can't guarantee it. I converted any text using the "destroy" or "chiller" fonts into pictures so that hanshow users won't have any issues with them, but if you'd like to edit any of the "chiller" text, I left an original textbox in the final hidden slide for you.

Fonts used include:

Destroy (for bombs and nuclears) -- (https://www.dafont.com/destroy.font)
Chiller (for any lost points) -- (https://fontzone.net/font-details/chiller)
ITC Avant Garde Gothic [main text] -- (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1V_EPKTFBDvo5TijmHN9YMltIVPMyrS2I?usp=sharing)
GHIBLI [just for the title and "How to Play" slides] -- (https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/alsamman/ghibli/)

You'll need to install the ITC Avante Garde Gothic and GHIBLI fonts if you want the powerpoint to look exactly as I designed it, but the fonts are close enough in size to powerpoint defaults that it should be okay without them.

Let me know if you have any issues or find any mistakes. I kind of burned myself out on this one as I think I overdid it on all of the elements, so I'm sure I've missed things here and there.

You'll also need to make sure that you have Quicktime player installed on your computer for the videos in this powerpoint to play properly. It's a free program and will not interfere with anything on your computer at all, it's just what Microsoft uses to play media files in powerpoint. (https://support.apple.com/downloads/quicktime)

Suggested game play: I designed this game with my own method of playing bomb games in mind, which is to have one team pick a question but to allow all teams to write an answer to that question. Teams that get the right answer will have a chance at getting (or losing) points on the initial reward slide, too, but only the team that picked the question can get the reward (or penalty) points on the bonus slides (unless it's NUCLEAR, everyone loses all points no matter what). For this reason, I don't have an option to return to the main selection page until you have reached the end of a bonus slide as there's always at least one team that will get the right answer. I let the team that selected the question go through to the bonus slides even if they got the question wrong, though, so they only lose out on the initial reward slide. You'll also need a couple of dice to use as some of the bonus reward slides require them (or you can just change those slides, up to you).

edit -- Found some errors, made a few amendments.

Unfortunately, this file seems to be far too much for my poor work computer to handle but from what I can see, it looks amazing!! Gonna save it and maybe one day either my school will replace my computer like they did for other teachers in this office or a future school will have a better computer lol.

Yeah, I put in a lot of video files, and many older computers can't handle that.

You can still use this powerpoint, but you'll have to go through and delete most or all of the video files (your computer might be able to handle the powerpoint with a few video files, so I recommend experimenting with deleting only half at first, then deleting 2 at a time after that until you reach a truce with your computer).

The game will still function just fine without the videos, you don't have to do anything special outside of that.

You can save a duplicate file before making any changes so that you'll have a copy with the videos should you have access to a better computer in the future. ^^

Thank you, I'm glad you like it. :)

I found another error in the powerpoint, though, and I've updated my original post for the correct file, but if you know how to fix it, the hyperlink on slide 117 goes to the next slide instead of back to slide 5 where it should.

Do you happen to have a link for the fonts for ITC Avant Garde Gothic [main text] ? It seems in the link you posted, you have to pay for it.

Wow, I guess that site decided to start charging for it all of a sudden. Thanks for letting me know.

Here is the file I used: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1V_EPKTFBDvo5TijmHN9YMltIVPMyrS2I?usp=sharing

This site has them available for free, too, but they pack the entire family in and have them named slightly different, and I don't know if Powerpoint will pick up on that: https://www.cufonfonts.com/font/itc-avant-garde-gothic-std

I can still use a handwritten font like this, can you try to see if it works on everyone's Powerpoint?

Here's a link to the a smaller version of the same. Some of the pictures might be a little lower quality now, but it's now around 110 MB instead of over 800.
