You already are being compensated. So why not give a gift to others? It’s a matter of efficiency. You know how globalization made the world a better place through specialization and exchange of ideas? Same type of deal here. The wheel won’t have to keep being reinvented and made. We can save other people time.

Why exactly are you harping on this?  As Mr. C pointed out he just moved his boatload of quality of materials to other free sites where it's readily available.  Others have done the same.  There is no shortage of good prepared materials as well as excellent templates to build on out there already.  And that poster here put up a link to her awesome Tay's Teaching Toolkit template site.  I'm not taking a side, I'm just wondering why with so many people still throwing up free stuff on other sites you're so invested in them putting it here.

Tell us about the other sites.

Not many as a percentage of teachers are uploading to other sites either from what I’ve seen.

Those downloading but not uploading far exceed those who do both.

If more people contributed- anywhere- the available materials would become better.

At the middle school level, I’m not seeing loads of good materials, at least for the books I’m using.

If more than a very small number contributed on all levels, we’d have way better stuff.

Remember, there are thousands of public school teachers. Past and present, SO many. How many uploaders? Comparatively few. A very small percentage.

I gave you the info you could google to find the one, but one of the main other ones is not permitted to be typed here.  I have never been behind the paywall here and still find troves of lessons specific to our books.  Lots of people still uploading good stuff.  Got to search.

I mean, this has always been the case, even before the paywall. The majority of English teachers in Korea don't make their own content. They download, borrow and modify from what's already available, and the majority of content being uploaded then AND now is just modified content that someone else had already created and uploaded. For original content, it's always been about some major contributors with a few smaller ones uploading some of the time.

Most people just aren't aware of that, and I see users getting praised for content that they didn't actually create all the time, even when the original threads showcasing the original content creators still exist, lol. You just need to dig and search, like OneNut says. There's a ton of quality material out there. You just won't find them all on this site anymore.

One of the sites is k0rsh4r3. Just google it, but replace the numbers with the vowel letters that look closest to them. It should be the top hit. And then there's Mr. C's site as well. There's a couple of others ones but I don't remember what they are, if anyone wants to drop a hint about them.

I'd also suggest creating a kakaotalk account if you haven't already, and joining a bunch of teachers group chats. Many of them have shared drives that members are always uploading into.

This was posted in the lesson plan forums here, so I assume it's acceptable.  Fantastic templates.

Nowadays most are in elementary school?  Seoul SMOE is only elementary school?  GEPIK too?  The rest of EPIK is middle school and elementary school.  We also had High School up until 5 years ago.

Also want to add that while you might struggle finding content for your own books, many of the books for certain grade levels are incredibly similar, enough so that you can just adapt any content you find for them to fit your own book lessons.

That's what I had to do my first year. The books my own school was using weren't popular, so it was really difficult finding content tailored specifically for them. I ended up just looking around at content made for other books, and adapted them. My original ppts were very much a Frankenstein hodge podge of several different ppts I'd found here and there, until I learned my own way around Microsoft Office enough to start making my own crap.

Yeah, sometimes I find materials that are "my" book specific and I don't need to change things (although if my students ever see Mr. C walking around they might start thinking "How do I know that guy?") but often it's taking the template for activities someone else with loads better ppt skills made and and adapting it to my lessons.

Pretty much.  Cheonje is the most popular in middle school and in elementary.  In midle there are others but I forget which other ones I came across once in a while.  Elementary is mostly Cheonje but less so and quite a bit of Daekyo and only slightly YBM.

Oh, dear.  For the record, it's okay to replace pictures of me with pictures of you.  I just ask you keep the "by Mr. C" attribution if you share it with someone.

Most of my stuff was taken from other templates and repurposed of course.

I don't have paypal or a credit card so I can't pay waygook for their content subscription.

Use your Korean checking/debit card. (Barriers to payment would be a bad business model; I did that method, it worked, give it a try.) If you still don't have success, ask your Korean girlfriend or other Korean in your life to pay with their card then give them cash.

Where there's a will, there's a way.
