The more of us uploading, the better the content will become.

What's the number of NETs in the public school system? Ten years ago it was 11k. Now how many? 5k? 4k? 3k? One percent of that is 50, 40, 30, but the number of those uploading to waygook.org is less than this. It's hardly anyone. What's the number of people who have ever worked in a South Korean public school vs. the number who have ever uploaded? What's the number who have ever downloaded a lesson vs. those who have ever uploaded a lesson (on this or any other site)? 100 to 1? Even more skewed? Why is this? Why are so few contributing? If you really care about helping others - both NETs and students alike- the most useful thing you can do on this site is upload materials. That's why the site was created.

There's a book for which I am seemingly the only person in Korea putting material online. Which is a shame. One hundred people uploading one lesson would be more interesting than one person uploading one hundred lessons. More variety. Not every person's work will be optimal in different circumstances because of variance in class size, class dynamics, and other factors. The more uploads, the greater number of gems will emerge.

A good starting point is to choose your best lesson(s) - maybe something you did for an open class - and click the upload button. Your contribution will be much appreciated.

I don't have paypal or a credit card so I can't pay waygook for their content subscription.

It's nice to say "Oh, yeah, do it for the greater good" and that's not wrong, but....... I would share to also browse others stuff but I can't.

What posting my lessons and then being blocked from the others wasn’t fair enough????!

There’s quite a few users who just use this site to download lessons, but don’t post (or upload) at all. Maybe that’s most? I’d guess yes. Even before the paywall, most who were downloading had never uploaded, and to a very lopsided degree.

There were 11,000 NETS in Korea at one point?  I knew there used to be a lot more but had no idea there had been that many at one point.

Anyways, where is the incentive when there are multiple free sites that post materials for the Korean school books?  Why pay if it's free elsewhere?

Also, those periodic postings along the lines "Hey, I paid for a membership and it isn't activated and no one will help me" followed by "Hey, I left Korea a year ago and am still being charged by Waygook.  No one will respond to my queries" don't help.

There's lots of selfish people on here.  Takers but not givers.  There always will be.  I did still uploading the past couple of years more than I ever had before.  When I was in Middle School I rarely came here as I didn't like the few lessons that were uploaded here.  As for Elementary when I changed over a few years back, when the text books changed, I decided to make my own games based on previous books and activities and I shared.  But I did take some down.  There were also tons of long term members who were removed back in 2017 or 2018 for no reason and no explanation given.  Just banned and IP addresses blocked.  So, that made me suspicious recently.  So, I removed some.  But whoever modifies the site now seems not so extreme.  I am gradually reposing some material.

This website should also allow Korean bank account transfers alongside paypal and others.

But we’re teachers. We should strive to help others. That’s what teaching is - a helping profession.

I haven’t.

Waygook is the only spot as far as I know.

Well, I applaud you.  If I ever go back to Middle School, I would take some of my elementary templates but make it more challenging of course.  Scrambled words review good ice breaker second class in unit.  Telepathy game could be used too.  Some speaking games.  Pass the ball by using no ball and calling student number instead.  Some group or team games like Tom and Jerry or Avengers, etc.  (But those last two are the most work to make.)  Standing and each student or team doing reading hidden stars games (or similar games) could be useful in middle school.  Occasional writing assignment of some sort you could make up too (If a higher level) especially funny writing.  These could be good ideas to try.

Says you.  I teach because my girlfriend wears the pants in the relationship and this is the only opportunity I have to boss people around.  Also, I crave attention and the students say things like "Teacher is so handsome" and it feeds my self-esteem.  I know I shouldn't brag.  Not everyone here gets that kind of royal treatment from the students, but I really think they like me.  I'm probably the best teacher in Korea.

I use the pink, blue and purple DongAChulPan books (in that order) for Middle School and I have NEVER seen a lesson plan section for them in the last two years.

I'm under the impression that I'm the ONLY teacher on the penisula to use them.

Have you ever uploaded a PowerPoint or other usable teaching material to any site? No? That puts you in the overwhelming majority. Almost all who have downloaded have never uploaded. ㅠ ㅠ

Recheck that link.  I submitted a couple of templates you can edit if you wish and use in Middle.  Or not use.

I don't even teach Middle School nowadays.  SMOE most teachers only do Elementary.  GEPIK maybe too, but less sure there?  So, most teachers here will be Elementary School and not Middle?  Some folks in my town do Middle and some of us do Elementary.  I have done Elementary the last few years.  Elementary has far more uploads and games and activities.

I used to upload materials pretty regularly. I created some pretty good PPT review games (Sonic game, World Cup soccer game, KIA Tigers baseball game) writing games (hotel memory game, lucky sentence). Many more as well, in addition to uploading new PPTs for 3rd/4th/5th/6th grade Cheonjae/Daegyo textbooks around the 2012-2017 timeframe.

It's true that right around the time the paywall came into play that I quit. All good for me though, I just focused on personal development rather than uploading/making new games in my deskwarming time.

Anyway, if you dig into my post history you'll find all of my lesson plans/games. Just because new stuff isn't being posted doesn't mean you can't mine from the quality materials from past years/textbooks and adjust the vocab/expressions accordingly.

EDIT:  Just click my profile, click "Show Posts" and then click "Attachments." You'll find all of my uploads that way.

I spent hundreds (possibly thousands) of hours of my own time, headache and sweat making my class materials.

No way I'm putting it online or even giving anyone it for free, though I wouldn't mind doing a teachers-pay-teachers type of exchange where waygook.org gets a cut of each transaction.

Realistically, no one’s gonna pay you for your PPTs, and if they did, it wouldn’t be much.

Because you worked hard on your materials, you won’t share them with others?

Shouldn’t it be the opposite line of thinking- “I’ve worked hard on this so I’d like it to be used / seen / learned by thousands of students rather than just those in my school.”

Teaching is about helping. As many as we can, as much as we can. We want to make the world a better place.
