Capsule Hotels

This lesson is about Capsule Hotels in Japan. There is a voice recording in the zip file.

There is some pronunciation practice first, then listening to a recording about a teacher who lives in Japan. The recording is in the zip file and it comes from a book called INTERCHANGE. Also included in the zip file is an .srt file that gives subtitles to a YouTube video found here...

If you do not know how to download a YouTube file, contact me and I will send the video i extracted from YouTube. Of course you are free to find any video you like, but I have subtitles for this one and I like the British accent because I am American and I want my students to experience other accents.

An interesting topic for a lesson!


I think most people know how to download a video from youtube, but for those that dont, the easiest (and safest) way is to go to the youtube video you want and just add "pp" (without the quotation marks) to the url directly after the word "youtube".

For example,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlkXwL8tFmI&list=RDvlkXwL8tFmI&start_radio=1
would be changed to
https://www.youtubepp.com/watch?v=vlkXwL8tFmI&list=RDvlkXwL8tFmI&start_radio=1

their is a capsule hotel in Gangnam I think, my friend stayed there but it wasn't near as fancy as the ones in Japan

i think when he said "cow piss" within 5 seconds that kind of ruined it for my learners. You can't show that to kids kind of unprofessional

Lol. Not sure if joking or not, but...

He said "calpis". It's a soft-drink brand in Japan.

yeah, that drink is definitely called Calpis. maybe his accent makes the L sound silent
