Good games for Zoom?
« on: July 15, 2021, 09:21:12 am »
I'm wondering what are some good games for zoom?

I'm about to do my first zoom class, and I'm not sure what games will be good for zoom. Do team games work well over zoom?

Hi! I've found that individual games work best for Zoom (especially quiz games). For teams, it's possible but it takes some time to divide and the students will sometimes forget (and you as well, unless you already have a team system set up). True false games are good, so are listening games or writing games. I'm not at my work computer now, but I'll try to send some example games a bit later.
Other people might have better team game ideas and experiences than me! That's just my opinion from my own experience :) Good luck!

Here are a few games I've used online. None of them are mine; but I edited and revised them to suit my classes.
I Know Stuff is possible with teams (I usually play boys vs girls or odd number vs even numbers) and works similar to a bomb game but all with just random vocabulary (one word for each letter of the alphabet). I've also played this as an individual game where the students write down what they think the answer is. If they are right and have good spelling they win the points.
Who's behind the mask is a spin off of King of Masked Singer. Basically they have to read/listen to the clues and draw what they hear. It's fun on Zoom because you can have one student at a time try to draw using the Whiteboard on Share Screen. It always gets big laughs.
Left or Right is a warm up game but it works well on Zoom so I added it. Good for practicing direction.
Hope this helps a little!

Many of the games on eslintherok.com work well for online class, only require about 60 seconds of prep time, and there's no downloading/PowerPoint needed.
