Positive Thinking
« on: September 03, 2021, 03:11:09 pm »
The gauntlet has been thrown down.

Enough bickering.  ;D

I just gave a 1 week workshop seminar to the foreign teachers in my school about optimistic thinking methodologies in the classroom and how they affect us as teachers as well as how they affect our students.

The challenge is this: Pick one poster here and say something nice about them.

Off you go........

I think OnNut is a stand up guy. I took offense to something he wrote and said so and before I could send it he had PM'd me that it was tongue in cheek and to please not take offense.

Nice.....

hangook77 is the most passionate and tenacious person on this website.

CO4 is super observant and quite outspoken.

Mr DeMartino can be annoying but I can't imagine waygook.org without him. He's like a sort of glue.

L I does seem to be able to take the jibes thrown at him on the chin. So I guess I'll keep throwing them

Lichtenstein is infinitely more tolerable than LIC.

(Can we include former members? DocH makes me appreciate the measured calm of NorthStar)

OnNut is good at insulting people. I know this is supposed to be a positive thread, but it's a talent. Some people are bad at it. A good insult is funny and effective. Not everyone can do it well.

At the end of the day you're all ok in my books.  Even those I take issue with.

Probably my four greatest nemesises (nemesii?) are Savant, MayorHaggar, Adel, and gogators!

Savant has shown some good writing with some of his longer posts
MayorHaggar is good to have around whenever someone decides to go after the USA
Adel can be funny at times
gogators!.....oof....uhm.... he's got some good sports insights and movie taste

Anyways, I enjoy every poster on here and I genuinely mean this- I always give everyone here a "reset" and open-mind on when they post in a new thread. and try to read the comment first and THEN look at the poster.

Liechtenstein is good at starting (sometimes) offbeat threads.

LI has a very strong command of simple sentence structure.

Other posters sometimes make me laugh at either their humor or idiocy.

Hankook reminds me of Leon County housewives talking about why they oppose mask mandates, although a few of them seem to have more rhythm.

But in the name of diversity, we need more posters. Speak out, lurkers!

The “positive thinking” fad in the English world is usually just denialism and self-delusion; forcing themselves mentally to accept negative situations. Why? There’s nothing positive to be said about the toxic posters on this board, I’ll make no excuses for them.

Back on topic

LI: has a good memory for trivial details.
Marti: Shows a good deal of persistence and determination though often misguided.
KimchiNinja: Uses some interesting horse analogies.

I’ll keep saying it until it changes or I leave the board, the format needs to change.  Get rid of the Recent Activity  forum and replace it with just four broad forums.  The amount of sub forums on here is ridiculous and almost no one goes searching for something once it slips off the front page.  Slow burning topics disappear overnight while the bickering ones stay.  It discourages new contributors. And get rid of the post count and stupid titles that go with it. So pointless and inaccurately depicts someone who has too much time on their hands at work (me) as being some kind of authority.

Hangook77: provides language tips for those going to China (next year and beyond)

Kindo: often wrong but always polite

Martino: .... huh. I'd need a one week seminar! (to thionk of positives)

edit: spelling
