Recent pot use tied to risk in heart attacks among the young.
« on: November 13, 2021, 03:00:02 pm »
Recently the news has been sending the story/message out that weed is associated with a rise in heart attacks among teens.
Just thought I would warn everyone about marijuana use and its side effects.

https://www.usnews.com/news/health-news/articles/2021-09-07/recent-pot-use-tied-to-rise-in-heart-attack-risk-for-young-adults

I wonder why this story is coming out so much now?  It seems to be all happening suddenly across news outlets.  I'm sure it's just our caretakers looking out for us.

Biden already threw his base under the bus when he fired White House staff due to past marijuana use.
Now the media is going after pot?

I have personal experience here. Sort of.

I was born and raised in B.C.
That is British Columbia.
That is the Canadian province that had an estimated billion plus (yes i said billion) dollar industry underground in marijuana, at least it did when i was a young man in 1987, and another billion in wood from logging and a billion in the combo of tourism and movie-making taking up the lion's share of the province's economy (fishing had been underdeveloped then).

Post continued:

I spent my first 20 years in B.C. but was NOT believed when i told them at uni parties that i had never smoked marijuana. My best friend had. My dad even told me how he once smoked in 1967 and threw up "a good bottle of whiskey", ending his one-time use. I had always avoided it.

I only second hand smoked it in a small room with grad students and our puffing prof. Part of me was aghast; part of me was whoa!

Semicolon properly used here.

I drink one or two alcohol drinks every day now because of the science in terms of coronary heart disease and ischemic stroke (4 of my family members have succumbed to those). Bokbunja is the best! Half a bottle a day. If i die of cancer instead, I'll say "Word", nod and smile. My dad died of lung cancer after 61 years of heavy use; i ain't puffing pot. I might eat edibles back in Vancouver. Not much. I haven't seen any scientific benefits of daily use, so once, twice monthly if legal. Maybe not at all.

"I do hope these data might inspire everyone to improve their diets, exercise more regularly, and take a few moments each day to decrease their stress," he said. "But I fear these results will be misinterpreted as some sort of rationale to return to prohibition."

If this thread is any indication, his fears are well founded.

Super marijuana (specifically bred plants designed to increase their THC content) linked to rise heart attacks.

Well, of courseĀ…a high concentration of any drug would probably lead to the same outcome.

That's confirmation that edibles and one not two glasses of wine might be the way to go, given scientific info.

3 of my 6 closest: DNA matches / relatives / parents & grandparents: died of lung cancer. I ain't inhaling shite. I went to Geoje, Hadong, Jeju and the last few years back in the southeastern province of Gyeongsangnamdo because it registers the best aur quality due to more Pacific fronts than China drifts (which makes Incheon a cesspool).

Wow. Times change so quickly.

When I arrived here only Amsterdam and dodgy-lax Cambodian pizza were the non-stealth ways to stay out of jail.

Now not being able to smoke drugs is equivalent to being in a gulag state?!

Cancel culture has nothing on this.

There's a weak correlation between very moderate alcohol consumption and cardiovascular health, but from what I remember, no causative link for this has been cited.
I'm not saying that there isn't any, but the underlying medical reasons for it have not been ascertained.
Actually, there are several non-medical explanations for why a glass of alcohol a day can result in the observed reduction in incidences of heart disease.
Check it out!
