Hello! I have finished the book in my 5th & 6th grade advanced after school class, and decided to do a lesson on if/then statements! First, there is the powerpoint explaining If/Then statements followed by a worksheet to reinforce the information. Then, I created a simplified version of "The Gingerbread Man" that we will read as a class. At the end of the story, I share examples of hypotheticals - "What if the Gingerbread Man was very big?", "What if the kitchen window was closed?" Next, I will group students and have them come up with their own If/Then statements about the story!
