Quebec: Antivaxxers to be denied weed and booze.
« on: January 12, 2022, 07:46:40 am »

Last week, the province announced that it would require proof of vaccination to shop in government cannabis and liquor stores.

I think Quebec will be 100% immunized very soon. Haha.

Looked at the next story on that link:

“Greece is to make Covid vaccinations mandatory for people aged 60 and over.”

Finally, an acknowledgment that almost all the hospitalization cases and almost all the deaths are people over 60.

Those are the most vulnerable - unvaccinated old folks who lead unhealthy lives - sedentary, obese, diabetic, eating sugary food every day.

Wish they could live a bit healthier and / or get vaccinated so we can eventually get back to living somewhat normally again.

Jesus H Christ on a crutch!  E-fcuking-nuff is enuff!

Honest to God, you're getting to be as annoying as Hankook, and that's saying a lot!

And whaddaya mean "an acknowledgement"?  You think this information has been a secret until now?  That every rollout of vaccinations in the entire effing world started with the aged simply because of the old rule, "age before beauty"?  Is that what you thought?  Is it?

Nobody knows the long term consequences of Covid-19.  It took many years to link the so-called “yuppie flu” with viral infection.  I would be more hesitant about broad proclamations.  Death is the worse symptom because it is so final.  But I have family that can’t taste food or smell properly and have bad lungs and they are not obese, etc.   I wish more good faith questions were focused on about the lung damage and other damage  from Covid-19.  Sometimes you live but the symptoms don’t go away.

This has been known and acknowledged for quite some time. There is no finally involved and no vindication of your far too many posts saying that old people are most at risk. Older people are most at risk for pretty much every disease under the sun.

I prefer the TV Captain Obvious.

Nobody knows the long term consequences of Covid-19.

In 2020 early on in the pandemic:

“The short answer to how many people had antibodies, as of July, is approximately 9.3% -- although numbers ranged from an average of 3.5% in the West to an average of 27% in the Northeast.”
___________

That’s a sizable percentage of Americans who have had coronavirus, which has greatly grown since then. Where’s all the “long covid”? It exists, but it is rare. The healthier a person is, the less likely they are to suffer long term effects. Vaccinations aren’t full proof. Pre vaccination, most were fine, and post vaccination even more, but it’s not everyone, which is why being as healthy as possible is important, something which is rarely being discussed or thought about. Obesity rates have been going up since the start of the pandemic.

It takes years to find out long term consequences even for any disease.  Covid-19 is in a different ballpark than typical diseases. It might be better to be better to be more humble.

Of course, there are risks we have to take, but you should not be so sure of yourself.

The French went from being liberal to being illiberal.

The "do as we say festival" founded by German settlers in 1946 has become popular in Quebec as of late.

If you had told me 25 years ago that a French government of any kind (here Canadian provincial) would DENY wine sales and withhold purchases of a recently legalized drug (the most used, previously illegal recreational drug) in a trade off of limiting freedoms to encourage the adoption of gov't-promoted cutting-edge science, I'd say it was a script that makes The Fifth Element (1997) believable.

C'est incroyable. Mais c'est comme ca.

Of course, there are risks we have to take, but you should not be so sure of yourself.

“I think it’s hard to process what’s actually happening right now, which is: Most people are going to get COVID, all right?," said Janet Woodcock, the acting head of the Food and Drug Administration.

The World Health Organization cited modeling that predicts half of Europe’s population will be infected with omicron within about eight weeks.
