Ravioli in an Italian restaurant vs. Chef Boyardee. Restaurant

A block of cheddar vs. processed cheese slices. What am I making? Also, cheddar is overrated.  Provolone or Colby Jack

Homemade kimchi vs. 24-hour take-out made-in-China kimchi. For eating straight or throwing on the meat pan? Homemade for the former, China for the latter

Heineken vs. Cass. Both suck. But at least Cass works with Korean food.

Twix vs. Twix Top (ugh....). Don't eat Twix

Bokbunja vs. Korean red (grape) wine. What am I eating? Generally BBJ as a change of pace

Jeju vs. Haeundae. Jeju. Haeundae sux donkey ballz

Lotteria vs. Burger King. Lotteria for Hot Crispy Burger and Mozza Stix and Fries. King for everything else.

Gillette vs. Schick. Same shit

Paris Baguette vs. Tous Les Jours. PB for salads and sandwiches. TLJ for cakes.

GoodDay vs. Chamisul (89.8% of twentysomethings in Korea know what i'm talking about 'cuz they consume the stuff, according to statista.com; they may not agree on preference however). Good Day all day. But the real question is Hallasan vs. Good Day

Nongshim Shin Ramyun vs. Samyang Original Ramen. Samyang. Dont get the love for Shin. But the real winner is Nissin Raoh

Who the hell would pay for Heineken in Korea? It's old, it's lightstruck and it's pricy. Cass is local, fresher and cheaper.

For Heineken prices you can get Playground Brewery or a local, decent craft lager.

Also, what the hell is this choice? "Homemade kimchi vs. 24-hour take-out made-in-China kimchi."

I don't get this use of 'fresh' to describe completely artificial products (also used by Ramsey as I remember) Do people really open a can of Cass and think 'ooh, this tastes like it was made this morning?

Also what's D Mart doing talking about the best pairings of food and beer? Wasn't he slagging off craft beer afficionados recently, claiming they wouldn"t be able to tell beers apart in blind tastings?

Is it? I suppose Gordon Ramsay used it because he knew if he said Cass tasted 'good', or had a 'nice flavour', his reputation would probably never recover, so he had to come up with something a bit more neutral.

Ramsay likely was told to say it, as "Fresh" has long been used in Cass marketing. It's literally on the bottle.

See yourself out.
If cheddar is the first cheese that comes to mind when you want cheese, you need to see yourself out.

Also what's D Mart doing talking about the best pairings of food and beer? Wasn't he slagging off craft beer afficionados recently, claiming they wouldn"t be able to tell beers apart in blind tastings?
I  compared Cass and Heineken which are distinctly different. I didn't compare Hipster Cabin IPA vs. TurtleRabbitParrot Paw IPA.

You get 5 IPAs in a blind testing, good luck at anyone telling them apart. Heck you could get the same IPA of varying dates of brew (but still within drink by date) and stored within a 10 degree Fahrenheit difference and people would claim they're 5 different beers.

As for Soju, Good Day tastes like water while Hallasan tastes like well, alcohol. But if you asked me to compare all the alcoholy sojus or all the "clean" sojus? I'd fail every time.

People who think are all about the subtle differences within things that they couldn't tell blindfolded are in the "A punch became MORE than a punch. A kick became MORE than a kick" phase of food, which is fun and I'm still in on some things. They haven't realized how much things are limited and subjective and how easily tricked they themselves are and how much energy they're wasting.

Now that I have mastered the art I realize "A beer is just a beer."

Saying two beers are different or you prefer the taste of one is one thing, claiming one of two similar types of beer goes better with a certain kind of food is entering the realm of pretentiousness IMO

Nah, pretty sure, cheddar is the cheese of the mainstream and working classes. I don't think most people are going to nip into the kitchen for a bit of Brie.

You're right. One's a beer and the other is Cass.

Beards fine back home.  Not so much here.  You rarely see locals wearing one.  (This means most K chicks are turned off by them, though a tiny minority will tolerate them.  True to all of Asia.)

Lotteria is actually much better than it use to be.  You can actually taste real meat now unlike the fake meat weird taste you got 10 or 15 years ago.

As for beaches, well I choose the mountains over the beaches.  Most of the beaches here are nothing to write home about.  These are the beaches from back on the Canadian east coast.  (More blue sky too.)  Korea doesn't compare.  A couple of pics below.

Ravioli in an Italian restaurant vs. Chef Boyardee.  Italian restaurant but if I am hangry I love a can of ravioli!

If you've been there, you know what I mean.

A block of cheddar vs. processed cheese slices. I like cheddar, especially white cheddar, but cheese slices are great for grilled cheese sandwiches - I use mayonnaise on the bread rather than butter

Homemade kimchi vs. 24-hour take-out made-in-China kimchi. I don't eat fertilizer

Heineken vs. Cass. I don't drink urine

Twix vs. Twix Top (ugh....). Twix are good I don't know what Twix Top's are

Bokbunja vs. Korean red (grape) wine. see Heineken vs. Cass

Jeju vs. Haeundae. In Korea? Silver Sand Beach on Namhae Island

Lotteria vs. Burger King. BK Whopper baby

Gillette vs. Schick. same same but different

Paris Baguette vs. Tous Les Jours. See Gillette vs. Schick

GoodDay vs. Chamisul (89.8% of twentysomethings in Korea know what i'm talking about 'cuz they consume the stuff, according to statista.com; they may not agree on preference however). See Heineken vs. Cass

Nongshim Shin Ramyun vs. Samyang Original Ramen. See the kimchi one above

I'd bet you a fresh TurtleRabbitParrot Paw IPA that CO2 could not only tell them apart, but also tell you when, where, and how they were brewed.

Also, the real question is Franco American Raviolios vs. Chef Boyardee and Franco-American clearly wins.

Also, Lichtenstein, Bokbunja is urine? Really? I get hating on Cass or not liking kimchi, but BBJ is pretty inoffensive. I wouldn't drink it all day, but as a change of pace kind of thing it's not bad. But you are spot-on when it comes to processed cheese having its place.

Will he be expectorating after each one or imbibing? My willingness to take this bet is dependent on how inebriated CO2 could potentially get. I might also try and manipulate things by chucking what he doesn't drink, mortally offending him and causing him to drink to completion.

Now, outside of CO2, I suspect you take the average craft beer fan and they wouldn't be able to tell them apart to save their life.

Heck, I suspect that if you slapped a "FishHead Brewery - Summer Moon River Woods Bright Lager" label on some OB or whatever and 80% of these craft beer yahoos would drink it down no problem.

And if people think they wouldn't be susceptible to this, they have zero clue how perception works. Unless you're like 24-7 in on tasting things, you aren't going to be able to tell.
