No invasion has happened yet. Probably wont. Fear of the United States is the deterrent.
This could get really ugly and I just can't see the logic behind it.
I think all those people in Commonwealth and European countries that like to talk sh*t about the U.S. should be the ones leading the defense on this. You're big boy countries with such fantastic ways of life and happiness, this should be cake for you. Off you go to volunteer and fight. You claim Putin is the biggest villain in the world and he is the reason Literally Hitler Trump and Brexit happened, so go smite the source of all your angst. Stop being a keyboard warrior and join up and send your boys to fight and die in the Ukraine. You have a chance to fight the 21st century's Hitler. You've got this one. Especially the EU and Brussels. Put the Belgians in the front line alongside all the EU politicians who turn up their nose at American and their snootiness. Have them carry a rifle in the Ukrainian mud. Unless of course, all this talk about Trump being such a gigantic evil and Putin his mastermind is just a crock of crap and that your actions don't match your words. That and when push comes to shove, you lot are all hiding behind the U.S. and rely on them to safeguard everything you hold dear. Where's all the sh*t talk now that you're hiding behind us? Finally, I think it will be hilarious watching all people from all these countries that mock the U.S. for having guns and claiming they can't do anything, cheering on a bunch of Ukrainian partisans and militias that will be fighting the Russian army. This is why you don't give up the right to own guns and/or make sure your adult male population is at least somewhat militarily competent. *Note this doesn't apply to anyone in Europe/Commonwealth who is appreciative of America and all the things it does to enable their lifestyle and safety. This is just for the haters.
Also, most EU citizens are very aware of America's contribution to NATO, and it's very prominent role in preventing the Soviet Union from steamrolling most of Europe. Don't worry, we're appropriately appreciative. If people mock the US, it's not because of America's military prowess.
Many are, but you get that contingent that just needs to sh*t on America every chance they get. I say, let them handle this one.
I would say Ukraine joining the Commonwealth makes more sense than China planting a flag on the bottom of the Arctic Ocean and claiming it as Chinese territory.

Except it's 2022, the former Soviet Union ain't pre-colonial Africa and the British Empire is dead in the arse!
None of these three were under the British Empire.
