Actually I have been using a cold brew machine plus a hot coffee machine and brewing my own coffee at home.  So, I haven't actually been to Starbucks for ages.  But damn those beans have been rising in price lately.  Still cheaper than grabbing a coffee out.  So, that leaves the Starbucks girls for the rest of you punks....

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a cold brew machine? I have always assumed making cold brew involved nothing more than soaking the coffee in cold water.

Yes you can and it probably tastes better that way.  But time consuming.  With the machine done in 45 minutes give or take (for the stronger brew).  Not as good as the natural in flavor but is done fairly quick with very little work.  I just have to grind the beans before putting in the scoops.   The natural way you are suppose to cold brew for a day or so.  (I want my coffee now!!!)

High Mart was selling an American one but with the 220 V plug a couple of years ago.  (I don;t think they have now.)

This is the same one I have.

I'm not much of a cold brew drinker so didn't know there was a way to do it faster. I'd be interested to see if the taste is really all that different using the machine vs overnight soaking.

Good question, I assume overnight soaking is better.  But this one is not bad.  I guess I will do a bit more hot coffee when it's cold but most of the year do the cold brew.  I fill up one of those ThermoFlask's from Costco with some ice and a bit of milk then pour in the coffee and drink that over one or even two days sometimes.  (I am a slow sipping coffee drinker.)  Bring with me to school and such.

Hi there,
Can I join in this thread?

Of course you can Lucky!
The thread's dead but say what you want to say. Do you want to talk about coffee (those 2 have been muted) or do you want to talk about what this thread was originally about?...that being 'teaching, but not English'. If it's coffee, you may want to find a more relevant thread. If it's teaching, we have already established that you cannot do this legally on an E2 visa, but can on an F visa. Fire away...!

Ok, I've had this conversation before, and I was sure I was right, but now admit I may be wrong.  But, as I'm sitting in an empty school until February 3rd why not explore the topic?  I had a friend who worked at the YBM schools that get advertised on here as a science teacher on an E2.  I also have worked at hakwans such as Poly and ILS that have math and science classes.  All teachers were E2s.  The reason they had no issues with immigration is because they do not give credit and the "science" classes are not recognized as actual science courses by any educational body.  And they are just viewed as English conversation classes with science or math as the topic by immigration.

The oft cited case that is used to dispute this is the case of the International School in Seoul where the teachers got deported for teaching subjects other than English on E2 visas.  The huge and key difference was that that school was a credit granting school.  It was not an afternoon hakwan with kids talking in English with a McGraw-Hill Science textbook.  Kids can't use their non-grades from Poly science class as a credit.  It's meaningless.

Lol. People aren't muted for speaking the truth, especially about coffee.

Let's all get along.

1. You don't know how to mute people. I recall you demanding that the other mods mute Billy for a rather tame joke.
2. Other mods (Taeyang) seem to relish in using the mute function.
3. Who is we? You aren't a mod.

Was that the "My Daddy is a Hero" meme, or one of my VanIslander parody posts?

Billy: yeah the daddy joke, resulting in the THAT IS BEYOND INAPPROPRIATE response and his call for your head. Now he seems very conflicted on whether he hates you or wants to bed you.

Yeah, that one. I tried to quote it and put it in my signature, but the site doesn't allow people to quote locked threads. Given that his name is Van, it isn't surprising he would be conflicted.
