Music and Poetry 3 period lesson
« on: August 02, 2022, 02:34:07 pm »
3 period lesson about poetry and music. I originally stretched this out over a semester for a high school course, but it went so well I decided to make a condensed version someone could use for a camp, workshop, or filler lesson. It's simplified and can be used for adult, high, middle or elementary students. I got the idea and template from a great camp post about poetry but the content and project is mine. Feel free to adapt and edit as you like

Period 1 - poetry methods (Acrostics, Haiku, 5 senses, rhyme, syllables with games, activities, and worksheets included)
Period 2 - Music & Lyrics (music warm up, meter & mode listening quiz, lyric themes and activity)
Period 3 - Project (rewriting lyrics to a song; all instructions and worksheets included)

The file sizes are too large to upload here, so use the Google drive link. You can download the files (make sure to download the google slides as ppt and documents as word).

If you'd be willing to share, I'd love to see how you stretched it over your semester for high school.

Sure!

It was a total of 10 classes (10 weeks) with 2 review classes (1 for midterms, 1 for finals) and the final class as a presentation/performance.

lesson's 1&2 were Art
lesson's 3&4 were Poetry
Lesson 5 was a review for mid-terms
Lesson 6&7 were Music
Lesson 8&9 were prepping for our 'mega project'
Lesson 10 was a review for finals
Lesson 11 was our performance

I'll add a link to the google drive folder. Please note that you will need to download the files (especially the ppts) before you can use them/edit them because they don't work in google slides.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions~
