Abolish the monarchy and the honours system, I'm no supporter.Nonetheless, it's just tiresome listening to people talk about "Liz", or that Charles is a dud in order to showcase how progressive they are. Scottish nationalists seem the most boring and eye-rollsome in this regard. She's gone and presumably the monarchy will hobble along for some time to come and the meanwhile our respective countries, republic or monarchy etc, continue to flounder in the face of structural and technological changes that nobody seems to quite know how to handle.

My mom's side of the family is English & Scottish. They fight. My dad, a Hungarian Jew, lights a cigarette and leaves the room. Flash forward: they die from heart attacks and strokes mostly, he, my dad, from lung cancer (63 years of smoking). He had said my mom's family had "too much heart". And thereafter my mom died of a heart attack, her mom died of a heart attack, my fav aunt died of a heart attack. (My sister died of breast cancer; but she was a red head, and fiery so, hence i expected her heart to give).I have my mom's combative nature but my dad's cool Clint Eastwood demeanour. I think a heart attack ain't in my cards; cancer or a virus will do me in.
