World cup 2022- hide yo wife, hide yo beers
« on: November 23, 2022, 07:02:56 pm »
Thought I’d start a World Cup discussion.

Saudi Arabia wtf?!?!

Also seems fox contributors have never been out of America and heard the USA referred to as the states lol

https://news.google.com/articles/CAIiEJqz1EHd4JZnWoowBguB-Q4qGQgEKhAIACoHCAowwL2ICzCckocDMOeRtwc?uo=CAUiANIBAA&hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US%3Aen

Some good white male rage in there ^^

“Now, I will grant credit where credit is due. Unlike the anti-American US women’s team, which kneels for the National Anthem and quite literally hates the country that has made them famous, the men’s team stood with hands over hearts for our anthem prior to their World Cup match.”

What a schmuck

The first time I met someone from the USA, he told me he was called Jimmy and he was from the 'States. This was 1967 and he was an African American man stationed at the 'Operation Deep Freeze Base', in Christchurch NZ. Your post just reminded me.

Anyway, the World Cup. For me, soccer is just a frustrating game to watch, so I'll limit myself to the Korean matches and maybe the semis and final.

Nah, thinking about it, I don't think that I'll even bother with most of the Korean matches, or the semis, or maybe not even the final. I just can't sit and watch for that period of time.

sports dont end in ties.  rewarding diving with free kicks is laughable.  soccer is laughable.

The great interest in the World Cup just goes to show what's wrong with the rest of the world. And now, the US, instead of keeping its focus on watching the real football traditional Thanksgiving games, is actually having World Cup events at local bars. All of those places should be penalized for unsportsman-like conduct.

Personally, I'd rather watch a woman's curling match. The skill, the strategy, the tension, the tight-fitting uniforms...

Then there's the Olympics, but at least they have cycling.

Thought I’d start a World Cup discussion.
I am a Canadian who saw as a teenager my team in its only other World Cup go without any goals in 1986. We made our only other World Cup berth thanks to the two stars of my beloved Vancouver Whitecaps: Bob Lenarduzzi, Carl Valentine. (I had their jerseys and signatures; went to their home games).

If Canada scores only one goal this tourney - our first World Cup goal ever - we will never forget it. (It's not like hockey, football or curling, but it's up there with tennis and skiing, maybe snowboarding.)

Life's to live! Live! Breathe. Relax. Enjoy. Animals teach us to focus on family, friends and avoid danger. Get what you need and get along with others. That said, some rock the boat, but they know capsizin' it means they're sunk. Some sink, let's swim! The sea's big, great, but has undercurrents.

That Fox News article is possibly the stupidest thing I have ever seen. That said, I am enjoying seeing these guys try to walk a very awkward tightrope between hating Muslims and hating gays.

Anyone who understand Gulf state politics and the current ownership state of certain clubs and a recent push for a certain new league knows whats really going on with all this Qatar stuff.

I think your man trump should buy a soccer team, run it into the ground, and sink FIFA with it. He's done it before.

Well, I don't think it can be read as blaming Trump for anything.  I think it was just an opportunity to slip in a little Donald J is the world's worst businessman after Marti, with his usual humility and deference, explained to us idiots that we don't understand the business of soccer, at least certainly not like he does.

1) Trump doesn't have F all to do with anything. Dude is living rent-free in your and gogators! heads.
2) Nothing you mentioned here refutes what I said. Also, no one else brought what up I mentioned or even seemed to be thinking along those lines, but they are relevant to what is going on. Just because YOU hadn't thought of it, doesn't mean it isn't true.
3) Not only Trump, but clearly I am living in your head rent-free. Dude, lay off politics and go take a breather.

Touchy today?

And how are you living rent-free in my head?  I'm responding to your post right up there.

For all those who aren't sports fans:

1. Ttump helped killed the USFL when he owned a team: https://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/13255737/five-things-know-donald-trump-usfl-experience

2. Ergo, if he bought a soccer team (probably impossible for him afford these days, but a man can dream), he'd likely have the same success and could take down a soccer league.

3. As stated above, I'm no soccer fan. There were four, count 'em four, great football games on yesterday, plus college basketball for those so inclined. Who needs soccer?
