Another new year is almost upon us. Does anyone have any plans for this weekend?

I'll be ringing in the new year at home with a bottle of wine. If we open the bottle late enough, I'll be able to make it to midnight. Sunday will be spent going for a hike in the afternoon. Late enough to miss all those first sunrise hikers.

A dry NYE (wife's working), but having a bit of a Do on Sunday.

Ash Tree Brewing tonight with some buds. Tomorrow I'm in Cheonan. GF and stepkid are coming back from Bangkok tomorrow afternoon so NYE with family. Then on Sunday I'm brewing a stout.

I think it's great that your girlfriend takes your step child on vacation.  Doesn't your wife find this unusual, though?

Also, I can't believe you gave permission for your step child to go to Bangkok, considering your opinion on the place.

At some point this winter vacation I'm going to be up in Seoul. What are your recommended bars? I'm looking for good beer but also a comfortable space to enjoy a few quiet afternoon drinks.

Chillhops Itaewon Project: Aussie beer in Itaewon. I'm good friends with the head brewer and his beer is KICKASS. If I had a mentor for brewing in this country, it would be him. Great fruited sours and great tropical pale ales.  https://naver.me/x8B5dXhM

Art Monster Gangnam: This place has the trend factor down pat nand it's a self pour/bracelet system. Pour how much you want yourself, they scan the bracelet at the end. Really great atmosphere and the brewery has won more Asian Beer Awards than God. https://naver.me/x1egDw9P

Ash Tree: Great British style pub in Gwangjin-gu (Geondae): They have the only cask ale pump in the country. Great saisons (house yeast) and some really cool recipes like a dark IPA that is KILLER. https://naver.me/FxLgOgMG

The Ranch Euljiro: Fred makes some really solid beers (Morning Calm IPA) and his beers are pretty standard styles but they're all super clean. He's not reinventing the wheel (like Chillhops) but this is a great place for solid, normal beers done really well. Also, they have Detroit style pizza and it's good.
