Disney Around the World Camp
« on: January 19, 2023, 12:39:20 pm »
For my winter camp this year I did an around-the-world theme with Disney movies as a base. It has been my most successful camp so far, so I figured I would share it. It is a 5-day camp (3 hours/day) with 4th and 5th grade, many are slightly higher level and a couple of low level students. Disclaimer: I got a lot of materials and ideas from a bunch of past camps posted on this website (https://waygook.org/index.php?topic=121242.msg850558#msg850558) and some of my own materials. Also, my school is fine with movies at camps so if your school is against watching all these movies then you might have to tweak some. Anyway, enjoy! ;D

The word document breaks down the activities by day and time and the supplies you would need. I had 200,000 won for my budget but I had to buy the food items myself because I can't use our school budget on food.

Day 1: lilo and stitch (Hawaii, USA)
Notes: I didn't end up making the peanut butter sandwiches but the spam musubi was a major hit! I pre-cooked the spam and heated it up the next day. It helps a lot to have the rice molds. I only bought two but had them get in two lines and make them one by one. A little more controlled that way!

Day 2: Coco part 1
notes: they finished the scavenger hunt faster than I thought they would so I had about 30 minutes at the end that I just played an extra game I had saved.

Day 3: coco part 2
notes: the marigold craft was a lot of fun but it took way longer than I planned so I did not get to the sugar skull coloring sheets.

Day 4: brave
notes: this was an easy day with little prep. The kids had a lot of fun making their creature.

the creature ppt is too big, here is a google slide link https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1YtlHS09pqD3nVIO3ZMj5BYqiKs41jn7n/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=103103409490790601081&rtpof=true&sd=true

Day 5: Mulan
notes: I got the minute to win it games from another user (https://waygook.org/index.php?topic=125773.msg902705#msg902705) but I changed a couple of games and added Korean instructions. I also did a trial run with my 6th grade before they graduated which helped it run smoother the second time but it was a lot of fun!
