If you feel like you are a bad teacher do this.

Google  Andrew Finch." Tell Me More". The Materials are easily available online and you can easily print them. Don't worry if it looks like it wouldn't work in your particular school or area. I've used this stuff in the sticks. Don't try to put your own spin on it. Simply do it as instructed on the worksheets.  Don't worry about your classes getting noisy because they will. But unlike all the other times your class has been noisy it will be positive and productive noise. Before you download another bomb game just print a few worksheets. You can thank me later. Don't worry if your co-teacher doesn't like them. The author of these worksheets works at a famous University in Korea and he clearly outranks ( him/ her)

Thanks fishead! The link is appreciated. A fair bit to go through but on a quick squiz there seems to be some good stuff. My weekends reading is taken care of  ;D.

I've saved you lots of time. Particularly when it comes to last minute afterschool classes. I might have even extended your stay several years.  It works really well with those overcrowded EPIK classes in the deep countryside. It surprisingly works well in those multi level classes that are always on the verge of chaos. The students don't mind doing them.  As they get an opportunity to get out of their seats and use the target language. Unfortunately you might get the odd student who see's this as an opportunity to goof off. This is  when a strict co teacher comes in handy.

You can just go into the TESL journal and print and photocopy the material for free.

My deep countryside schools have always had the opposite problem. Classes of between 1-5 students are the norm.

Yeah, pretty much every countryside school that I've taught at has shutdown in recent years thanks to a lack of students.

Probably based on where you work and live, but I want to know if anyone here actually teaches at a rural school that has more students than its classrooms are equipped to handle.

You guys are lucky. I have 3 rural schools, and most of the classes (80% or so) are 25+.
I think the MOE has been shutting down a few schools and shuffling the students into the remaining ones. Larger schools have better economies of scale, I guess.
While having a class of 25 is better than a class of 2 or 3, I long for the days when they were all like 15 or so. That's kind of the sweet spot regarding student numbers, imho.

I figured. Only makes sense, the number of teachers and staff at any of my rural schools always outnumbered the students haha.

The largest class size I've taught at any rural school in my area was 10, and that's with all grades combined. The following year it was down to 5, then it got shutdown. One of my students from that school actually transferred to my main school afterwards to complete his final year in middle school.
