For those of you who used this ppt in your class, approx. how long did it take to complete the adventure? I know it varies depending on how well your students do with the 'quests', but just an approx time?

Perhaps this is my error in judgement, but I used this for a third grade class and they reacted so loudly to the Ann image and evil witch image - like it was pornographic or something... ::)
How did everyone else's class' take it? Any, 'Ohhh! Teacher! Sexy!!!' ?

Thats strange...The pictures didn't strike me as any worse than the MMORPG promotional posters I see in most PC Bangs.
A few minutes ago I completed the advice class for literally my entire school (1500 Middle School students grade 1-3) and not a single one said anything about it. None of my teacher's commented on it either.
How many classes did you do this for? How many reacted that way?

Really? None of your classes reacted in any way to the images? I love the game by the way, its awesome, but I tried doing it with one of my 1st grade classes (Middle school), and they wouldn't shut up about the pictures (Oh, teacher they are sexy. Oh teacher I like. Oh teacher blah blah blah). Heh. Made me not want to use it except for maybe after school classes...

My students Wah-ed and Oo-ed and then one of them squealed, "SEXAAAAY!" at the girls. It was my lowest level, unmotivated class, and they really go into it. "Teacher, ONE MORE TIME! PLEASE-EE!"
Yup, even with kids, sex sells. lol
I modified it for my Grade 2 class focusing on the phrase, "I think you should..."
I also felt that the tenses were inconsistent, so I changed it to present tense so if "feels" like you're actually there.
Thanks so much rednumberix!

Pretty much all of my classes I should reacted to the images. I didn't mean for this to take away from the game - they still very much enjoyed it and participated, but there were lots of 'ohhh!' and 'oh teacher! sexy girl! ahhh!' reactions. I too thought they were the same as many game posters I've seen, and after having sooo many students tell me they love computer games and going the the PC rooms I was just a little surprised they would find that at all scandalous.

@rookiewaygook ROFL
But you're absolutely right. Especially to Middle Schoolers.
But at the same time I really can't believe the lesson is being used for Elementary grades even ones that are higher up. I really like your remake as well rookiewaygook.

I stumbled across this while looking for extra materials on "Giving Advice" since it's Ji Hak Sa's Middle School English Grade 3 Lesson 1 theme.
I asked my coteacher if the images were okay, but she is not in agreement. They are a bit too sexy for my students (all boys) and would distract from the lesson.
I love the artwork, but am going to post a less scandalous version for those who want the adventure game but not have to deal with the "sexy" comments. Or an angry co-teacher.

Thank you so much for this game. grade 3 are really difficult in my school, and have had a bad rep since they arrived in gr1. getting any sort of participation has been like pulling teeth, but your advice game really helped break the ice :)
thanks again for a great game, and a great idea... if i have time im going to make it longer, as the kids really couldn't get enough of it, and were so bleak when it was over (we played it through until they had tested every possibility, regardless)
major kudos

this looks perfect for my super low level high school students! This should elicit full sentence responses.
I asked my interns about the pictures and they said they would be no problem. I do think I should check with teachers other than 24 year old males though. One asked for his own copy of the ppt!

I modified the pics when I saw this a while ago. I realize that there are sexy pics in the world but I don't have to raise the influence in my class just for participation's sake. While editing, a few of the girls were upset that the opening girl's panties are on for clear show. I agreed. It wasn't necessary and didn't help with the lesson.

2013 EDIT:
Since making this game I have retired from teaching...but after seeing more and more comments...some of them kind of creeping me out...I've decided to edit the game. I still think the kids see more scantily clad fictional women on the sides of buses, but it makes me a little sad that some people can't use this resource because the content is objectionable. So I've fixed typos and changed the objectionable images to release
ADVICE ADVENTURE 2013 EDIT.
The witch is now wearing a full length dress and Ann looks like an average Korean student. I doubt anyone could find the new images even remotely objectionable.
In addition to this I've also included an introductory PPT. This should explain problems and advice pretty easily. I've used it multiple times with great success.
I hope this helps. Keep fighting the good fight!

This is phenomenal! Will try it with my Gr1's and see! But I am sure they are going to love it!
