, how to play heads up 7up. I think the video is a bit fast, but I think it's worth it as a visual aid.

Here's a very simple ppt that I made. My grade four students are really low level so this lesson I'm going to build the vocab until they've practiced it all by the end. This ppt is only 9 slides. I will print the slides and put them on the board in a tic-tac-toe fashion, they have to say the vocab to get their X or O on that square. Next week I will add the other vocab and make it a 4x4 grid on the board, if they want to get a "bingo" they have to play RSP against me after they say the vocab. They love this stuff! Enjoy!

I just added the ppt with some additional slides. Hope it's useful!

Kung Fu Panda game

JC49, thanks so  much for this powerpoint. The music in the beginning completely pulled them in--hook, line and sinker! Their mouths were watering every time they saw the point page with 만두. I made a few adjustments but I'll definitely be using the powerpoint again for my other school!

Hey my Korean co-teacher whipped this one out on Friday, it was really fun, thanks for all your hard work. I love dumplings.

SONOGONG AND SAMJANG PPT

Storytime was one of my favorite lessons to do with the kids.  They really got into character and made awesome props.  Also, if you love your overburdened co-teacher as I do, it can be a great way to say thanks for his/her support by letting them do that lesson on his/her solo days and taking on more traditional and cultural lessons in the chapter for yours.

So, whether you use it yourself or lend it to your co-teacher, here's a PPT for "YBM Si-sa - Lesson 6 Storytime - Sonogong and Samjang".  In some of these PPTs, you'll notice animation and or sound effects added depending on the version of Powerpoint you're using.

This is a twist on go-fish, using the cards in the back of the book on page 155.
The first three slides are the rules of the game.
The following slides are the cards with example setences shown.
I changed the last card that says "great" to "let's play basketball" to make one extra sentence.
I will use this for period four, but I think it would work for period three as well.

Hope this helps :)

I'm using this great short animation as motivation before Day 3, Story Time (even though the 2008 Olympics seems like a really long time ago!):

FYI (since I had no idea) - The Korean name of the story is "Sonogong," which is the monkey character.  (Well, that's what my co-T told me, but then she later referred to it as "Samjang" in class, so whatever.)  It's based on a Chinese novel called "Journey to the West," which you can read about at Wikipedia.  The Wikipedia about Sonogong (the character) is here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Wukong

For period 5, an excellent ppt to generate discussion on summer vacations.
Original creator was MalTX who made this for an after school class.

I tweaked the sentence prompts at the end to suit our key sentences.

Thanks MalTX!

Printable Bingo game. Includes game board (4 x 4) and pictures, which students cut out and glue to the game board. 16 total vocab/expressions all from the book. Good for any period of lesson 6 'Let's Go Hiking'.

Attachment is ppt file. I find it easier to print from a ppt file.

This is a classroom talking and code breaking activity. Children walk around the room and try to find friends doing the same activities. Once the have found their friends, they need to gather the letters and make a word.

Simple practice and game that was very effective.

I used the cards as posted earlier, laminated, and put sticky magnets on the back (see attached).

First, I wrote "Let's go ________" and "Let's play _____" on the top of the board.

Show the flash cards one at a time, and they should say the vocabulary word. Put the card under the appropriate column (let's go or let's play).

Practice making phrases.

Take the cards down. Write "O" on the board and elicit students on how you can respond (Sounds good, sure, Okay, great) and same with "X" (Sorry, I can't. I'm busy.).

Scramble the cards up and have students help you put them in the correct column. I show an X or O sign so they can respond to each one.

I have a bunch of character cards (like spongebob, pikachu, etc) that are laminated and have magnets on them. I tell students to close their eyes and look at the back of the room. Hide one of the characters behind a flashcard. Tell students they can look. Students should guess where the character is by saying the correct phrase. I'll find the flashcard, take it off the board, and say Sounds Good or Sorry, I can't. Continue until there's a winner. That winner will come up to the board and be the next one to hide the character.

I got 100% participation in this game. I also like it because once they get the hang of it, it's totally student focused. They're saying the phrases and the student at the front is pulling the cards off and saying the key phrases. Great success!

This can be handed out on the first day of Lesson 6 or for review any time.

It is a simple table with key vocabulary and expressions for Lesson 6 - in English and Korean. It has 2 tables per page, so just cut the page in half, snip off the side, and tell students to paste it in a notebook or textbook.
(My CT uses the teacher's guide, so it just covers the suggested material from that book.)

I have a different textbook but a very similar topic. I used the attached powerpoint to introduce the topic and practice the key phrases (with GIFs!).

I also used the hidden character activity posted by lianney above, and it worked so well! I would highly recommend this game especially for classes with lower level students. It got every student talking and using the key phrase.
