Anyone have any idea for a cute game/activity/skit for this lesson? It's my open class. I usually just do an intro ppt, pop over to the CD and then just play games/activities for the remainder, but my co-teacher is wigging out over the Open Class. They love to put on a little show for OC. Any ideas are much appreciated.

I am doing Lesson 7, Period 2 for open class and intend to do battleship. My father/mother/aunt/uncle down the side, and pilot/nurse/teacher/policeman at the top.

I re-record the dialogs with student volunteers before each chapter, because 6th grade have such a hatred for the CD videos (i don't bother for 3/4/5). We recorded the videos for Chapter 6 and 7 yesterday, and spent a little extra time on 7 so the video is nice.

We have just started on this since we're also doing it for our open class. We're going with Look and Listen, Listen and Repeat 1&2, and Look and Speak all on the first day with a Let's Play of Bingo on p.57. Day 2 is Let's Read/Write/Sing and a Worksheet or Puzzle of some sort. Lesson 3 Looks like it could be Let's Sing review, a class discussion on what their parents do, and Let's play. Our fourth class is our open class. We have a warm up, Jeopardy, Review from the book, a crossword puzzle on occupations with a powerpoint and a quick wrap up to introduce the next lesson. There is a lot of stress for us for this class because our open class is on a Saturday when all of the parents are coming to observe all of the classes. I'll put up what I have so far and add as I finish making everything. My crossword and Jeopardy powerpoints should be finished by Wednesday at the latest so I'll post everything when I finish.

You could also try out this... It's from our Sept. 2009 GEPIK conference. One of the presenters there had a song with a fill in worksheet in the book. So, I've made the worksheet with the choices on the side. The song is available on youtube.com under 'People Song' with subtitles in Korean and English. It may be pretty helpful and it's a really catchy tune. Worksheet available for Windows 97-2003 and 2007.

Okay so here are some new worksheets that I just made. One is for a split level class. It is occupation bingo and you give clues about the job and they have to guess it. Along with that is a word match where the students have to match the beginnings and endings of job words. Then, there's a crossword. To go along with the crossword is a powerpoint that goes over the answers so you can check it together as a class. It really speeds up the checking time. Jeopardy is soon to come.

Pass the paper game for this lesson. Two versions with the only difference being the music. One uses Muppet Show theme, the other, theme from Batman TV show. Thanks to EFL Classroom 2.0 for original templates for these games!

I like the Jepardy game. I may have my students play connect four. I haven't made the actual worksheet yet, but here is the template. You can put "My mother is a ..." "My father is a ..." My sister is a ..." etc... on the side, and the occupations on the top. Students must say, for example, "My father is a pilot." before they can mark their X or O. You do need to explain to students that the "pieces" "fall down", and must stack; they can't choose a spot floating in air.

My kids usually love this game, even students who generally don't care too much for English.
