2010 Grade 4 Lesson 6 It's Time For Lunch
« on: May 17, 2010, 01:23:43 pm »
Period 1 in this class is all about the phrase "How old are you?" but it's not all review. The phrase "How old is he?" is new to the students, so I went back and changed a game from the earlier unit to reflect this new phrase.

I'd give credit to who made the original game that I modified, but I don't remember where I got it from.

Grade 4 Lesson 6 - review bomb game
Hi Everyone

Here's a bomb game I made to review Elementary Grade 4 Chapter 6.

They choose a number by the teacher or the class saying 'how old are you?' then the number takes them to a slide. The rest is self-explanatory.

I hope you get some use out of it!

aaargh!

this game has a small design fault - the numbers on slide 3 should change colour when picked, but they don't and I have no idea how to do that.

does anyone know how to change it?

otherwise just make a note on the board of which numbers have gone, or get the teams to take note themselves so the same numbers don't get picked twice.

Here's a PPT I made to practice daily routine vocabulary, times, and the, "ItÂ’s _____. It's time for ____." sentence structures. There's also a corresponding x-word puzzle. I hope it helps!

Thanks for this! I think I'm going to use it in a "price is right" style lesson with the 4th graders - 6th graders love that game so hopefully they'll get it too ...

Also, here's  a Youtube video and fill in the blanks worksheet that students use during the video. First, I give a little explanation on times ending with :15 and :45 because this is new to them.

Anybody have the English guides for this lesson?  For some reason I seem to have an old unit and can't find the "It's Time for Lunch" one anywhere.
Cheers.

It's Time For Lunch is a unit that is new this year  so there are no English guides. All of the English guides you have seen are for last years books which had half of the Lessons of this year. Lessons 3,6,9,12-16 will all be missing English guides.

Here are my 'lesson plans' and materials for this unit. Sorry the lesson plans aren't in a very good format, my school is happy for me to just have them as notes for myself.

This is the PPT for time. It is useful to have students know time according to each schedule. Students can practice time by pictures and sentences as they learn now. You can teach time by changing the hands of a clock.

Here is another version of "It's Time for Lunch" From the new book in chapter 3. Afterwards, I had students form in groups and I whispered a time to them and then the students had write the numbers on the backs of their partners. The student at the end raised their hand (To prevent the students from killing each other) and I then called them over and had them write the time on the board. To make sure it doesn't get out of the control, I told the students it was a quiet game and that they would get 2 points if they were quiet, 1 point if they were noisy. normally I divided them into 6 groups, but it's flexible.
