Hey all, it's finals week and I thought I'd put this up for those of us who have to teach additional classes after exams (hooray!!). I originally made this for the last day of my afterschool class, but it could be used during a normal class as well. I started with the PPT and an explanation of new vocabulary words; then, I had the pictures for each word printed out, laminated, and stuck to the back wall of the class. The students made two lines and we played the whisper game - I whisper one of the vocabulary words to the first two students, they have to whisper it to the person behind them in line and so on until it reaches the very last person, who then has to run and touch the corresponding picture. First team to touch the picture wins a point :) Then I gave them the handouts and had them match the English words on the left with their definitions on the right. Some of the definitions are a little shaky, but I wanted to try and find new ways to explain each word in English. We went over the answers, and then I showed them the first 15 minutes or so of Kung Fu Panda. The reason why I did so much vocabulary prep was that I showed them the movie with English subtitles, not Korean. Then I gave them some time to write their answers to the comprehension questions, which we briefly discussed as a class. I designed this for a 90 minute afterschool class, but you could cut out one of the vocabulary activities or change some of the questions to make it work for a 45 minute class :)
