Hey!!! Where did my post go?!?!?!!
« on: August 30, 2011, 07:38:25 am »
In an effort to stay organized, sometimes the moderators of Waygook.org will move threads from one section of the forum to another.  This is particularly true of threads started in the "General Discussion" area that should more accurately be posted in sections such as "Life in Korea," "Contract and Job Related Issues," etc.

Before starting a thread demanding to know where a post has gone, please try to locate it yourself.  It may have been moved to a more appropriate section.  You can locate your thread via the following methods:

1.  Using the "Search" function listed at the top of the page. (From davey: I prefer using Google to search this site. Type "site:waygook.org [search term]" in the search field" (without the quotes of course).

2.  Searching through your post history.  At the top of the page, click on "Profile," and from the drop down menu select "Forum Profile."  Under "Profile Info," select "Show Posts" from the menu.  This will allow you to see the posts you've made and where they are located.

To help with keeping Waygook.org as organized and efficient as possible, please take a moment to think about where you are starting your threads.  Posting threads in the correct forum the first time helps you keep track of your posts, helps other users find relevant information quickly, and helps save the moderators time that could be applied toward other forum improvements.

Please see this post for information regarding what should/should not be posted in General Discussion --

Thanks for being a part of Waygook.org  :D

I think sometimes they just remove them all together instead of relocating them. I guess if someone thinks the post was pointless or didn't really say anything.

Yes, moderators reserve the right to delete posts if they violate Waygook.org's Terms of Service -- for instance, if a user has made a post that is racist/hateful, if a user makes a post that is only one or two words, etc.

However, in such cases, the moderators do make an attempt to notify users when and why their post was deleted.

Probably merged. There have been loads of threads about that.

I have also not been able to find some of the documents I uploaded. Quite frustrating.

Every single one of the posts I posted, nearly 2000, are gone. What happened to them?

Looks like you got banned in January and your profile and posts deleted.

This week there was a great thread about the Korean government removing some evolution-related material from school text books. It prompted about 4 pages of dialogue debating the role of evolution vs. creationism's role in the education system. It was one of my favorite "hot topics" to read this week.

As of about 2 hours ago, it's completely gone. Where is it??

I read the rules and can't see why my post was deleted.
The thread is now locked. No message why either?
The simple fact the thread was only replied to by a few users backs my reply.
Mods?
Deal with what?
It happened thousands of miles away.
It will happen again unfortunately.
20 years ago this would have been some HUGE news but of late most of us have grown a thick skin to sad events like this.

On the bright side we know this won't happen in Korea.
Currently taking some vacation time in Europe!

I'm just wondering, does a moderator have to approve a new thread post now?

I ask as I attempted to upload a game that I had created last year, but hadn't shared until now. I've attempted to upload it twice today, and once it hits upload 100% the start a thread page reverts to a blank slate. I then have refreshed Waygook to check that the thread was loaded and can't find it anywhere, using search and looking at the place where I was attempting to upload it to, so I attempted uploading again, to find the same thing happened.

The file is larger, at 489,000kb, but it's still within the limits of Waygook's upload specs. Is it just that the file is larger and that's why it's not showing yet? Or is it there is another issue?

posts only have to wait for approval if a user is being moderated, or if it's in a specific board (like the institution review board).

as for your issue... try using a different browser, or clicking "preview" before post.
use google to search the site

site:waygook.org XXXX

replace 'XXXX' with your search term

Thanks Taeyang, I had used IE and Chrome... it didn't load properly, so I posted using a link to Google drive... I hope the file is downloadable from there... I don't know if it is or not... I can try uploading the file again to that thread, but I don't know if it will work.

I was working with the preview function, however, it was going back to a plain post... sorry, I guess I should have mentioned those things.

What part of the TOS is violated by soliciting Korean women for marriage in order to set facilitate private classes?  I have failed to find any rules prohibiting such activity.  If you delete my posts on this topic it will severely hinder my ability to run a profitable business.
