Hi,
Here's my plan for the lesson (a lot was stolen from another thread where preps are lesson 2-thank you very much!).
I'm also going to be using this song:

Hope it helps!

Fruit ninja game.  Ridiculously simple.

My kids loved doing the hand motions from this one.

Angry Birds Game for this class.
Some of the questions are simple "What is this?" ones for the vocab in this unit as some of my students are still struggling with a/an, but the rest of the game is all about prepositions.

Argh! Apologies to anyone who downloaded this! I just realised that I uploaded the version that wasn't fully edited. I've changed it now and sorry for any confusion!

Hey all,

Here's a ppt that basically reviews the basic prepositions and couple others (in between and next to are added).

For a small drawing activity, I had them get a blank piece of paper, draw a big circle and a nose in the middle of the circle.  Then I said "Draw 3 eyes under the nose.  Draw 5 ears in the circle.  Draw 1 eyebrow over the nose.  Draw 2 mouths in between the eyes.  etc.  They get some cool looking monsters in the end.
TEECHA! SONG TEECHA!

Simon's Cat: A cute video with loads of use of prepositions. I paused it and asked "where is the cat?" Ss had to all answer together in order for me to continue.

Also attached a game I used for 5th grade lesson 4 I haven't edited it yet but I am sure most of it is okay to go.

Lastly a link to the 5th grade book last year which has tons of materials and games we can use.

Doing this for an open class after period 1 - can be used after other periods too.

Mario Bomb Game + quick review before the game

I'm teaching a few more prepositions than the book covers.  I'll start my lesson with a Maru the cat video (link in the ppt) and talk about where the cat is in relation to the box.  As I go through the prepositions I will have a student volunteer demo the positions at the front of the class with a box and cat ears on to act like Maru.

The pictionary game included involves the student choosing any one character, one preposition, and one object.  They keep their sentence a secret.  I will demo it first it front of the class--start drawing your sentence until a student can guess & say your sentence correctly.  Let one student volunteer demo it for the class then split in to small groups to play.  I'll finish up with the Mario blast game, thanks for that game post!

I'm using this in place of the chant. You can make easy hand motions to go with it. They love when you start going faster.

Decided to use a review worksheet rather than a bomb game for this lesson.

4 activities:
1 Match the word
2 Write the word - I'm writing down the first letter of each before I photocopy
3 Write a sentence to match the picture
4 Draw a picture to match one of the sentences

Here's a whiteboard writing game with a PPT template I borrowed/improved upon from the BAAM BAAM game posted earlier. Students answer the question "Where is the _____?"
