Konglish Lesson
« on: November 15, 2010, 01:02:28 PM »
I've been meaning to make a Konglish lesson for a while now... here it is!

Some images and content were taken from the lesson posted here http://waygook.org/index.php/topic,437.0.html

Hilarious and awesome. Thanks! I may add one in there on "Nice to Meet You" and "See You Again", too!

To the "abbreviations" section, I would add "sand" as a Konglish abbreviation of "sandwich."  Yummy!

Nice work.  :)

Very nice... this is the only Konglish lesson I have seen that isn't bordering on offensive...

I will probably use this in my afterschool classes, so thanks!

Has anybody used this lesson in class yet? I just wonder if it would offend my students at all? Thanks!

I've taught the lesson twice so far and I asked my coteacher if it was offensive at all and she said it wasn't.

I really liked the lesson...really good presentation. I ran a few things by my coteacher, and it did not take but about a second before he suggested changing the picture about "glamor," and he looked at me like I was a pervert! That picture really sums up the idea, but it might not be appropriate for use at all schools.

Thanks! I teach in an all girls school so the picture works ok in my lessons. haha.

Yeah the "Glamour" picture turned my middle school boys beet red... good thing it was just with a small after school class. I find it really interesting that bare shoulders are not acceptable here but hotpants with but-cheeks popping out are perfectly fine...

you can just paste a black 'censorship' bar over her cleavage and it should save some bashfulness haha..

'I find it really interesting that bare shoulders are not acceptable here but hotpants with but-cheeks popping out are perfectly fine... '

This is an interesting comment and one I have pondered for a while. Can someone explain this to me? Bare shoulders and cleavage are taboo, but indecently short skirts (even High School Girls) and hotpants are seen as perfectly acceptable. I am totally confused.

First let me say that this lesson is very successful and absolutely brilliant. There are some slides which are controversial, but use your own judgment. The first few slides proved too confusing so I changed them or made them shorter. All in all it was a great class, extremely easy to teach and super fun.

Fun!  I think I'm going to use it in my winter vacation class.

For "glamour", I think I'm going to use a funny picture, like an obvious female impersonator stuffed to the nines.  So then it's boobs, but not boobs... hehe.
