Book 1
Looks Like: Blue background, yellow globe
Publisher or author: 천재교육 (Cheonjae), Frances Sohn

lesson 1: What grade are you in?

Here is a worksheet I put together to follow with the CD.  Sorry I don't know how to post this in the actual book section.  Hopefully later this week I will have game ideas too.

Also I will use a review game from the end of 5th grade for the 1st class.

These are fantastic! Thanks for the upload!
There is one minor error in the instructions for the first activity on the worksheet. It says "Please the write the Korean." I just changed it to "Please write the following words in Korean." Otherwise perfect! I'll definitely use these.

Thanks a lot, I will add on the lesson I'm going to use. My school demands more speaking activities and they don't like ppt that much. Pls help!!

Here's what I'm going to use for this lesson...

1. Greetings Kaboom:
I'll go over the greetings vocab and play the game as a warm-up.

 2. Little Town cards from MES English.

As the main lesson, I'll go over on the laminated cards distributed in small groups (same number each) with the class. After making sure we are on the same page, We'll play Rock, scissors, paper game, where group members will take turns to pick cards from their decks (one card a round). Impersonating the characters on the cards, they will greet each other using the KABOOM vocab, then ask each other questions: What's your name? What grade are you in? what do you like?  What club do you like to join?( answers here will depend on the "Cans", music and after school sports on the card)  and lastly, the main question, How old are you? the oldest will win  cards from other members and the group with more cards will be the winner.

Still looking for more...

I hope it works!

I have this Pororo game and Pass the Ball game that has key language and target sentences from this chapter. There are some pictures in there of me. I suppose you are more than welcome to use them, but your students will probably think it is cooler to have pictures of you.

I have an intro to the vocab and target sentences as well, but am waiting for some Korean translation. I will go ahead and upload it, but as soon as I can get some Korean thrown in, I will update it. Again, the last three slides are of pictures of me. And the spelling word "Ms." is me as well. PLEASE PLEASE feel free to change it. I'm enough of a dork that I don't need more Korean kiddos thinking I look like a weirdo! ><

Also, if anyone has thought up of a song or movie clip to introduce this lesson, I am all ears. I tried looking for something on youtube, but I have had no luck.

This idea is used to put students in their own order within the class. Give each student a number and have them stand up and put themselves in order. Keep track of their time and have them try to line up in the correct order each time. After they are in line, have them say their ordinal number. When they are finished stop the timer. I have them compete against their own time and against each other in the grade (I have 6 classes).

Here is a listening bingo activity that focuses on the liaisons for this lesson's sentences.  First, there is a matching activity for what the sentence can sound like when spoken and the actual sentences.  The ppt is for checking the matching activity, or can be used independent of it.  Then, I'll play listening bingo.  For each sentence that I say, they can mark the actual sentence or the liaison sentence, but not both.

This is a speaking activity that's basically taken from section 3 of this chapter.  I just reorganized the activity.  I will split the class into 2 teams.  First, team A will sit at their desks with the one club sign (book club, school band, etc.) and team B will visit the club signup desks.  Each person walking around has a sheet with all of the clubs.  They're trying to join as many as possible.  So, one student would approach a club, go through the PPT dialogue, and then flip the coin to determine if they are in the right grade.  If they are in the correct grade, then the person seated signs their sheet in the space for that club.  After an appropriate amount of time, the teams switch.  At the end, the team with the most signatures wins.

Hello

I found two race car ordinal number game ppt's.  These are really fun and usefull.  They were origionally used in last years English book 1st period.  But it works well with this lesson too.

For this year I wont do any content teaching. Just the Play and Closing, I feel ill. Also, PPT games not allowed.

Anyway here is a board game for Period 1. Students will work in pairs, say each sentence as fast as possible, where they meet do RPS, loser goes back to start. Pairs can flip the A - B role.

Song-- looking for a song for Chapter 1 with the target phrases or relevant vocab ^^

My coteacher and I decided not to use any of the songs from the book (an excellent as well as necessary choice, in my opinion).

I felt sorry for myself because I had no shoes-- until I met a man with no feet.

Telepathy game for period 2. The ordinal numbers on the slides are animated as I get the students to spell them aloud before/as I reveal them.

Slides 8-12 are like mini dialogues, hence the double up of pictures on slide 11. For the 'only' picture, you might want to change it, or say something about koalas only eating eucalyptus leaves.

The idea is off these boards, thank you to who ever you are. Originally it was called 21, but mine has 28 cells, so now it's called, Twenty-Eight!

Students can say 1,2 or 3 sentences and have to avoid landing on the bomb. So they have to think a little bit and not just read aimlessly.

Here is a double-sided worksheet for this lesson. Print it to flip on the short edge, fold where indicated, and glue it into the book on page 11. (As a side note, proper folding and gluing always seems to be the hardest part for my students.) On part 7, the "You" sentence is specific to me, so you might like to change it to reflect your interests if the students know about you. Let me know if you have any feedback!

Went to the racetrack in Seoul a while back and got the idea for a game to teach ordinal numbers.  The powerpoint is pretty self explanatory.  Basically there are 4 horse races each involving 14 horses.  In teams, the students will guess who finishes in the top six.  For example team one will say "First, number 12, Second, number 3, Third, number 8, etc....).  The teacher should write each teams guesses on the board for score keeping after each race.  The races themselves are digital races (about a minute long) I found on youtube.  Any questions let me know.  peace
