Here's my lesson for grade 2, chapter 1, dialogue 1 (I have to teach one dialogue a week so my lessons are split). It's on offering and describing food.

Nothing terribly fancy - as is my habit, I try to take the bulk of the class time on a student-led activity. In this case students take a few minutes to write down a food they LOVE, a food they HATE, and a food that they think is just ok. Then two students at a time will practice the dialogue, where student 1 offers food or drink to student 2, and student 2 accepts and describes it. Then student 2 will offer to student 3...etc, etc.

Having them write down foods ahead of time should reduce the odds that somebody stands there and just goes ".....uhhhhhh...." or you heard "CHICKEN" twenty six times in a row. It SHOULD reduce the odds: but, you know. It is what it is.

I like to let the students themselves pick the next student. They excel at choosing the jokers/clowns/sleeping students/those paying least attention/those who most need the practice...

No difference between PPT and PPTX but I know not everybody can open PPTX.

Minamteacher, your PPT looks good (as always), but it is linked to a bomb game (also in the lesson plan document) that is not posted here. I'm just wondering if perhaps you had put it in the old thread, or maybe it's in that large zip file posted there?

Maybe a little late, but here's the first half of the lesson (Would you like some). The PPT has the dialogue (between Lee Minho and Anne Hathaway), practicing saying Yes, Please and No, Thanks, and some food vocabulary.

For the actual lesson, I gave the students four different types of foods (marshmallows, spicy chips, peanuts and sour worms). Half the class would offer the food. The other half receive (and eat). They have to write the words for the food on their worksheet as they eat it. Sneakily got them to repeat the dialogue about six times each in the process. Warning: you may be harrassed for food for the rest of the week TT_TT

Here's my Lesson 1.1 (Offering Food)

I go through the PPT talking about food adjectives and we practice a bit. Then I go through part of the embedded Prezi (I didn't make it) that looks at some interesting foods from around the world. For the last 20 min. or so I have each group choose a food from a different country (country options are attached)  and make an advertisement offering the food. The poster has to include all the things we talked about in the PPT -- Origin, Texture, Taste, Looks. I have a review handout for them to keep and study that I hand out while they are making the posters just to help them remember the words.

Games and Activity ideas for lesson 1 

This year I want to expand more on the themes in the textbook, so I decided to make a introductory lesson about foods from around the world, which ties in with the "World food fair" theme from the textbook.

I am going to make some cakes from my home country to give to the students as a motivation for doing the activity (I don't have so many students)
