Some review materials for our Final Test, which is actually only covering Lessons 12-14.

1) Super basic Lesson 12-14 Review PPT, only focusing on the main types of questions for our test.  (Uses other PPTs I downloaded for lesson 12 and 14, new stuff for lesson 13.)

2) Mission Impossible Game, modified somewhat from one I downloaded.  Thanks, original poster!  Students write the correct answer, then throw the paper into a box (or boxes).  Get points if they make it in and the answer is correct.  Works best if they move the desks to be in a double horseshoe shape with the boxes in the middle.

3) Big Bang Bomb Game that I downloaded from another book's thread, and then changed a lot!  It has 36 questions, so could conceivably take almost a whole period.  (I haven't tried it yet*.)  Thanks again to the original creator!  This one should be a huge hit.

4) FONTS for the Big Bang game.  It looks a lot better once you install the fonts.  Otherwise (like if you use more than one classroom), you might want to change them to something you already have that looks cooler than the default replacement font.

*EDIT: The Big Bang game might be too long.  Since all the songs are repeated, Ss started to get bored by the end.  I'd recommend only playing it for 20 minutes or so...

Lessons 1-15: This is a very simple matching dialogue review. Print it out, cut it up, and let the students find their match.  I'm going to have the students read them in front of class, after everyone has found their partner. It's something fun and simple for a last class of the year.

END OF BOOK REVIEW MATERIALS

These are some games I made, since we already finished the book.  We'll see if I have any classes today to try them out...

1) Simple Lesson Titles Review Game, lessons 1-15.  The lesson 1-8 part is recycled from my Back to School PPT that I posted in the lesson 9 thread.  I'm using it as a writing game.  Actually 4 games; 1-3 could be speaking only.  The fourth is a code breaker game, so they'll need to write to solve them.

2) KABOOM Game (questions PPT), again covering lessons 1-15 (3 questions per lesson).  Modified from the version I used for an earlier review.  This time the questions are on the PPT and the Kaboom Can is used only for scoring.  Includes RPS for more excitement.  Ss answer the question/complete the sentence/translate/etc., in order to draw their points from the Kaboom can (well, points or various Kabooms (lose points, switch points, etc.)).

3) KABOOM Cards for the game.  I'm re-using the Pringles Can with the kaboom label you can find somewhere earlier in this thread.  If you play the whole game (PPT), you'll need to re-use cards to have enough (there are 45 questions but only 36 cards).

4) The FONTS for the Kaboom game.  (I think I've become addicted to downloading special fonts...)

Here's a cartoon you can use before playing the Kaboom game:

* Features the classic Marvin the Martian line, "Where's the kaboom?"

Another review game for the whole book.

Minecraft Bomb Game (the one with videos).  Thanks Andrew Teacher for the great template!  There are 25 questions, so only 1 or 2 for each lesson.

Make sure to keep the video and audio files in the same folder as the PPT and don't rename them!*

Of course, I'm going to start with a short video for motivation.  CATSPLOSION!

*EDIT:  Re-posting, because I found a few minor problems after using it in class, which I have fixed EXCEPT:
One creeper video (Evil Stalking Creeper) would not play for me.  I tried re-naming and re-inserting the file, but Powerpoint 2010 kept crashing on me whenever I tried to test it.  Not sure what the problem is, so if someone else can fix it, please feel free to share your result!

Spongebob Whiteboard Speed Game Review of Lessons 1-15

Not my template. Got it from a friend and I don't know the original creator.

There are helpful instructions in the notes section for each slide.

I think it could take up an entire period. I did it for the last 25 min. of one class and we only got through 3 of 5 sections. The kids loved it so we did the other 2 sections in the next class period.

Robotka, your Title Review Games ppt is awesome! Thanks for sharing it.

Hi,

I made this Jeopardy-style money game off of another template for Lessons 1-4. We made it so all students had to write down the answers but they could pick categories team by team. The students with the most points were winners. Hope it helps!

LESSON 1-8 REVIEW materials I made to fill up an extra day here at the end of the semester.

1) LOLcat Review PPT.  LOLcats are bad at English.  Get the students to correct their grammar/spelling.  2-5 cats for each lesson, but it could probably be trimmed more.  Took about 10 minutes with the students merely reading and saying what was wrong (a few captions are correct!).  If you cut down the total, it could be a writing game.

2) Book Scavenger Hunt worksheet.  It was too difficult for individual work, except for advanced students, so we did it as a class.  I read the "clue" and the first student to raise their hand and say the correct page number got a point for their team.  Takes 20+ minutes, depending on how much help you give them.  (I gave hints as to which lesson they should look in, either by stating the lesson topic or title.)

Here is a review game for lessons 9-13. there are about 6 questions from each lesson. Pretty simple. There are 3 versions of the points slides so students couldn't figure out which points are where. i also had them roll a dice to choose. Check to make sure all animations and sounds work properly.

I updated the Jeopardy game using a template I found on here. A good review game for Lessons 1-4 I think :)

A textbook based review worksheet for lessons 1-4. The students should use their textbooks (if they need to). Or, it could be used as a test, without allowing textbook use. I'm using it as homework.

edit: first one has a mistake! on stomachache.

Review worksheet for lessons 9-12. 10 pages total (although there are lots of questions which take up a lot of space, but don't take long to do, like matching the english to the korean etc).

There might be some mistakes (i.e in the number of spaces for fill in the blanks), so proba a good idea to check it over.

For my review lessons, I do 20 minutes of worksheet then 20 minutes of games, for two lessons. Then whatever they haven't finished of the worksheet becomes homework.

Tell them to use their textbooks, and the notes they've taken in their notebooks, to help them.
