Go, go! Phonics 3 (Long vowels)

These are my materials for an afterschool phonics book called Go, go! Phoncs 3. But they may be useful for anyone teaching phonics without a book.

Unit 1: Long vowel a (_a_e, e.g. cake).

- Long a PPT
- Hidden picture PPT game
- Pororo PPT game (some other Qs about telling the time, but they're easy to change - I teach 2 books to the same class)
- Matching PPT game (match picture and word)
- Long a picture cards for playing 'snatch card game' (Ss play in pairs - put their hands on their heads -  teacher says a word and students must grad the right picture - they can only use one hand)
- Story time fill in the blanks PPT (activity to follow story at the end of the unit)

Unit 2: Long a (ai / ay spelling, e.g. snail / May).

- Long a PPT (ai/ay vocab.)
- Hidden picture PPT game

- Story time fill in the blanks PPT (activity to follow story at the end of the unit)

These Powerpoints have helped me a ton!
Here's a worksheet I made with some of the "Long I" words, aimed at word recognition for lower levels (I'll be using it for my Grade 1&2 Daycare class). The kids color and cut the ice cream scoops and put them on top of the proper cones.
There's also a coloring/writing worksheet.

Long A - ai/ay
Here's a coloring/writing worksheet I made using the ai/ay words.
Also included is a "Spinner Game". Students play in pairs and they'll need a pencil and paper clip per pair for the spinner.

Long I- ie, y

Here is another coloring/writing worksheet for some long "i" words using ie and y.
On the second worksheet, they have to match the pies to the bakers.

We also played a "Roll a Word" game using long 'i'. Each group gets a die and the numbers correspond to long "i" pictures on their paper. They must say the word to check it off on their paper. If they get 5 of one word, they win the game. *Alternatively, can keep playing until they check off all the squares on their paper.*
