Here's a PPT I made to prompt students to make simple sentences to answer, "What's she wearing?" It gets a little boring for them long before they consistently answer, "She is wearing ___," correctly, so it's all about Lady Gaga.

Here's just a vocab review of clothing, and introducing the key expression "He/She is wearing..." and I included "They are wearing..." They kept wanting to say "They are wearing a yellow shirt." But I drew a picture of a big shirt on the board with 2 people in it to explain why they need to drop the "a," and they really understood it.

I tried to use celebrities they knew (except the first girl), and the last picture is from the CD-ROM.

Hope it helps :)

Hey guys~ I just finished up my introduction for this lesson. It includes colors, clothing, hair color, key phrases, and practice slides. I am sure it will be very useful for you and your students. I have worked very hard on it. It took me about 25 minutes to cover in my first couple of lessons. To make it shorter, I suggest moving two or three of the last practice slides to a day two review if you don't have enough time. Be watching the thread in the future... I am working on some good worksheets, my favorite being a color by numbers with questions. I'll post them as soon as they're finished up. Enjoy your lessons and have a great day! Cheers!

Take the Land Game

Pair Work Game:

Students use a game marker at the bottom of the page and flick it onto the game board.  Wherever the marker lands, the student whose turn it is reads the sentence in the box.  If they read the sentence correctly, that box becomes, "their land" and they place a mark indicating this.  The game continues until all the boxes are marked.  The student with the most markings wins.

If the student misreads the sentence, they cannot place a mark in that box.  The person they are playing with should monitor this closely.

Writing Game

Thanks to the original poster of English Duel.  Modified the game a bit.  Rules are included in the PPT but basically students are put on a team, look at a picture and write a sentence describing that picture.  He is wearing a blue cap, etc...

Here is a simple powepoint to follow the Around the World with lots of traditional clothing from ... around the world.  I get them to sing along to one verse of Small World, watch the Mr Bean clip and answer questions about what Bean does to the guard's uniform.

Here are some supplement worksheets I have created for my students. These were very effective with my students and cover both ideas of clothing and color. One is vocabulary matching and writing the Korean equivalent. The second is writing about the colors of the things around them. As you can see there is a scoring system on the worksheets which can be removed by simply clicking on each text box and deleting them. The coloring is formatted for our school's printer so you may need to adjust the graphics to fit your needs. The second attachment is the color by number worksheet I had promised. It incorporates math into the lesson as well as the fun of coloring. There is also an accompanying worksheet which asks questions about the coloring worksheet after it is completed. I hope you enjoy them. Best of luck in your teaching! Cheers~

This is my lesson for period 3.

Warm Up/Presentation:
  • I: I played a live version of Guess Who. I have one student come up to the front of the classroom and pick a student. They don't tell the other students. The students have to shout out descriptions in order to guess who the person is.
  • Review Game: Have the class ask, “What are they wearing?” c.   Student turn has to give a description with target phrase, “They are wearing___?"    Everyone matching that description has to jump.

Practice: Book Work PG: 126

DVD Control Reading
Reading can be boring. So I liven it up with this game. The powerpoint is attached. The students have act out according to symbols while they are reading.

For those of you who have downloaded the color by number sheet, please change #8 blue to orange. I am changing the one available now. This is what happens when I work past ten. Sorry everyone!
