I have a worksheet for this lesson; that might be it.  I'd love to hear what anyone else plans to do for this unit, because I am just about out of ideas.  The Guess Who? activity on the worksheet is taken from the user moose.

*Edit: Adding a "Top Five" game; will have students guess answers by saying "My favorite ___ is _____".

I'm using this for 13-1 and 13-2

Pictionary or Charades:

-cut out slips and hand out to students
-students circle 'pictionary' or 'charades' at top of slip
-students draw a picture of their favorite animal (encourage diversity!) and copy the completed sentence at the bottom of the slip. (ex. "My favorite animal is the blah blah")

-Teacher collects slips for next class
-Next class teacher puts slips into grab bag and selected volunteer students must either act out or draw a picture of the the animal (depending on whether 'pictionary' or 'charades' was circled)
-Answering student uses key expression sentence to answer, "my favorite animal is the ____"

I use this ppt as motivation before or after the reading lessons.  I must give credit to the creator for the original design.

Here is a short, easy game for motivation, Guess the Picture.  Asking and answering various favorites.  I downloaded it from the Kyohaksa 6th grade lesson 2 thread, but changed it some.  Thanks, original creator/poster.

Also, here are some short videos that I may use, which are all from Speedo for some reason:

1) "What's your favourite animal?" with very short answers (good to show how people actually answer this question in real life)

2) "Who's your favourite cartoon character?"  I think the answers are all well-known characters in Korea.

3) "Who's your favourite superhero?"  Mostly well-known superheros, but I love that it gives me an excuse to introduce my students to THE TICK.

Here is a prezi I made where I talked about animals from different countries.

Two really simple things, but that, with the book, can fill a lesson (30 students at good level). For review lesson/writing lesson maybe.

My Favourite Action: Three teams, one person from each team comes to the front, faces away from the board and has to guess the correct sentence from their teams actions.

Can get rowdy but good warmer. (I stole this idea from someone else for a fourth grade lesson. can't remember who though...sorry)

My Favourite Secret Code: Worksheet with the letters substituted for numbers, also some words missing, includes a word list at the bottom, some I've given, some need to be solved as well. Found it good for clarifying some is/are pointers.

Probably need to give 'em the letters/numbers guide if their level is low.

Here is my lesson plan using two of the posts...

1.) Read and Practice script. (5 Minutes)

2.) Use the prezi to introduce new vocabulary. (10 Minutes)

3.) Use the Mario Power Point Game to Review and conslaidate. (15 Minutes)

Note: it will take 5 or 10 minutes to calm the students throughout the lesson.

1) Storybook that matches Storyland, Mamba and the Crocodile Bird.  Many kinds of animals, plus review of past tense, prepositions, "How's it going?" and probably some other stuff we've taught so far this year.

Doesn't actually include "My favorite..." anywhere in there, but it does have "There is" [actually "There was"] and "I don't like..." at least once.

Note: *I found the PPT in French, and translated it back into English.

2) Avengers Game!  (I meant to post this sooner and now I see someone else had the same idea... oops.)  I found it in another book's lesson about favorite subjects, but I totally changed it except a few questions.  I also added/revised some of the animations from the original template, and added a very short intro.  I hid the slides explaining the points, because it's more fun if the students are surprised by what they get.  I also changed Loki to RPS challenge and sometimes minus points.  My students LOVED it.  (It also went really well with the "Who's your favorite superhero?" video I posted above.)

Really simple writing game, but effective. Place the six sheets sheet around the room in slightly hidden spots. In groups the students collect the words for one number at a time. The first team to form the correct sentence wins.
