How was your vacation?

I'll be using the "When She Loved Me" song for listening and reading practice.

Listening: After reviewing verbs in past tense, students will listen to the song and write down the verbs in past tense that they hear. Each group will write down their answers on a whiteboard. You can make it a contest and see which group wrote down the most correct answers.

Reading: Give students a handout with the lyrics of the song. Ask them to circle all the verbs in past tense they could find. For additional difficulty, ask them to write sown the present tense of each verb.

For the second song, I picked 'Today was a fairytale' sung by Taylor Swift.

I've never had any luck with the peer surveys when trying to just do them straight, so I modified the one on page 163 to be about celebrities. There are 25 here since that's the size of my class. As a heads up, there's a ridiculous picture of me on there that you should probably replace with one of yourself should you use this activity. I made it a competition to talk to the most people and they all seemed to have a lot of fun with it.

My students also weren't totally sure who Carly Rae Jepsen and Rihanna were, so you might want to swap them out.
