The taboo game can also be played as a guessing game. Review the job vocabulary at the beginning, then students have to guess the name from the picture.

The Word Lotto game also reviews vocabulary.

I changed a few activities I found earlier to fit this lesson.

The first two are a couple of games to practice the vocabulary and phrases.

I also adapted a battleship game I found- should help to get all students involved.

I honestly had never heard of a 'doll doctor' before this lesson. I think the correct term would be 'doll repairer' or 'doll fixer'.

Here's some warmer videos of pranks involving a bench doctor, firefighters taking a break, and police officers vs firefighters.

Here is a sentence search. It's pretty similar to a wordsearch although more complex, so it might be best for higher level students. I have included the answers as well.

Hi guys, I made this PPT for the later lessons on the chapter, where students need to describe the responsibilities of the jobs they're talking about. Hope it comes in handy ^.^

Just found this on a link for another book. Thanks to misskris for the original post.
It's a video of all of Homer Simpson's jobs.

A youtube video showing  top 10 unfortunate jobs. Make sure you view it first and check out job #2. I wasn't sure if I was comfortable with it, but my co-teacher gave it the go-ahead.

This is a Intro PPT from TOM's TEFL website. Its really well done and give a lot of different activities after the intro. It has some guessing, taboo, describing/miming games.

Great way to ease into the first class.

I did my open class for this, so here's the material I made, plus a few other things, all Simpsons related.

First up is a ppt I made last year which just has 'What is he/she?' 'He/she is a ____.' It might be useful as an intro or something.
For my open class I started with a video I made of students with my ipod touch asking them what they wanted to be - I then took screenshots from it and made a ppt asking 'What does 수영 want to be?' "She wants to be a ___."
- Then I used the 'what do you want to be NEW ppt' to review/introduce jobs and the sentence structures.
- Next I did page 186 of the book - I used the 'say the hidden words' part of the ppt (which has the script with some words covered) but all the stuff I prepped for the 'connect 5' game on page 187 I didn't end up using - it might be helpful to someone else, though.
- Then I had the students write out what they wanted to be and my co teacher or I wrote out difficult to spell jobs on the board or ppt for the students. We then played pass the ball and when the ball stopped had them ask each other (their seat partner) what they wanted to be (I made sure they pretty much all had a chance to talk)
- Then we played the evolution game - I adapted the ppt to make it a little more streamlined. In the game the dialogue was simply asking each other what they wanted to be.
- Finally I had a ppt with photos of famous people as kids and they both had to say what their job is/was (using images from the 'what do you want to be NEW ppt') and guess who the kid grew up to be. I finished by putting a photo of myself as a kid (which I removed).

I also added a matching game.
Hope this is useful...
