More stuff (too big for one post):

For Rhythm Reading(I borrowed the concept from and earlier post!) I would recommend that you make teams and give points based on who can read farther. I had them read to the beat, one word per person. When they missed the beat or the word, I switched teams. It's a little noisy but they seem to enjoy it.

I couldn't put up the file with the sounds embedded as it was too large, so I will attached the sound files on later posts.

.3 warm-up is supposed to help train students with the key phrase "Do you know about____" I have some guided practice at first, then I am hoping they can fill in the blanks.


~Also full credit for hangman goes to the source. Awesome game, kids love it. And yes, you will always have to kill the poor guy if they get the answer right, haha.


I was having a lot of trouble with the rhythm reading, so my co teacher suggested shortening the amount of text on the slides. It was like magic. If you are having trouble, I highly recommend taking out all but about 2 sentences worth of text.

Here is a writing game for section 16.4.
 
It is a Naruto themed back writing game. This powerpoint is to explain how to play the game. I used simple short words to save time, but if you have a long class you can make phrases or sentences.

I wrote each word on a postit (or 'secret ninja scroll') and, starting from the back, I had them write the word on the student in front of them. The final student wrote the word on the board.

I left the slide up with the word choices written so lower level students could participate. That way the word that got written on the board would at least be a target word, if not the original message.

All the boys get excited to see the first slide and they generally kept quiet as long as you emphasize that they are ninjas, haha.

I couldn't find many interesting team games for this lesson, so I made this simple board game.  It's called "Do you know about... Celebrities!"  The rules are fairly easy once you look at the PPT.
