Map game: Find the city / country
« on: November 19, 2012, 06:50:10 PM »
For this game, you need a projector / smartboard. It doesn't really work on a TV.
Each slide has a blank outline of a country (or continent) and the name of a city (or country). One student from each team sticks a sticker/Post-it Note where they think the missing place is. A bit like pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey with your eyes open :azn:
Of course, click to reveal the answer, when everyone has finished arguing over where their marker should go :P

I've used it with middle school or low-level high school, usually as a filler at the end of a travel/world lesson. You could use it to teach north/south/east/west and have teams guide their team captain (only using English) as to where their marker should go.

That was really fun! I only wish you had more! :)

I added another 160 slides to the original PowerPoint slide in this thread. Although it doesn't cover every country, it should be comprehensive enough to last the entire class.

You may want to have the students review the countries before they play the game, however. They probably won't know where Romania is without first looking it up on a map.

Cheers!

This looks great!  I'm going to try it with my high school students after our travel unit.

Thanks!
