I teach middle school, and I found that even the high level students didn't know the names of the oceans (Pacific, Atlantic, etc.)  So, I taught them that last week.  I was think to do in conjuction with the lesson, a game of "Where in the World Am I?"  Give the students a series of clues, and they have to guess where you are looking forward to visiting.

Lesson on As you wish!

Students have a chance to make a poster and present it to the class. Makes for fun classroom decor!

Here is my intro prezi covering the key phrases for the lesson.  I think you'll like it. http://prezi.com/lrlu-3--gv-l/grade-3-lesson-5-the-rajahs-rice/

This is my lesson. I have to students pick 4 of the phrases from section one to write at the bottom of the page and we play a crude kind of bingo as we go over the answers for matching. Also check understanding of: nap and lose weight

Here's a lesson for the people that have to put in most of the activities from the textbook.

I also had to edit a youtube video to make it shorter (and have enough time for class).

Sheila,
Great Prezi! I use .ppt and I would like to use the video from your presentation. Could you post the link please? My googling skills are falling short on tracking down that exact video. Thanks!

As always, thank you for this awesome community.  My word and PPT cannot open/convert Luna's ppt and word doc.  Can anyone re-save in an older version of both of these programs?  Thank you,
Cheers.

Most of this is self-explanatory. There's is, however, a slide that has 6 pictures of random things. The first letter of each word spells advice. Ant =A, Dog=D, etc.

Here is my prezi for an intro lesson. It goes over the two phrases: "I'm looking forward to ____" and "Could you give me some tips."

http://prezi.com/-jy0upin01r6/g3-lesson-5/

Group speaking activity: Give each group a whiteboard with a marker. Then I ask them the questions and give them 2-3 minutes to write down an answer. Afterwards, all groups will share their answer.

Role play activity: Separate word doc. still working on that. If anyone needs it when I'm done lemme know.

For my advanced students, so I skimped on the explanations b/c it is fairly easy for them. Role-Play is the main part of this lesson...

Does anyone have any ideas about a fun game to use with this lesson? I like the comic strip idea, but I don't think I have enough time. I am stumped!

Here is my Prezi for the "Can you give me some tips" part of the lesson.

http://prezi.com/kkguajkej72o/g3-l5a/

For the activity at the end, print out the document and cut in to strips. Half the class will have a problem, and half the class will have the advice. They need to walk around the room and find their match (Make sure they are speaking English and not just looking at the other person's paper!). If they think they found their match, they need to check with the teacher before they sit down. This activity usually takes about 15 min. If there's extra time left, I have the students read their sentences to the class with their match.

I used one of the bomb games. I put in random pictures of funny situations and each team had to give me tips on how to solve the situation.
