Rorschach Test Game - Good Filler or Warm-Up
« on: September 12, 2013, 11:56:38 am »
I've been on a filler-game binge (mostly because my schedule for this semester is wonky so I see a few classes WAY more than other classes and need to fill extra non-textbook time) so I assembled a Rorschach test game.

It basically works like Scattergories. Students write anything they see in the pictures (they can be English for high level and Korean for low level, then you can use the words they generate as a teaching opportunity to learn random vocabulary) and only the UNIQUE answers get points. If other teams get the same answer, the word cancels and no points are awarded. You don't have to do it game-style, you can just warm up with the images if you like and get the class brainstorming. There's a 1:30 timer on the slides to keep things organized (click to start and let it run until it buzzes).

Happy Gaming!

Thanks for this! It looks great and I love the timers in the corners. I think my kids will like this a lot!

Very interesting. This looks like it would go over pretty well!

any suggestions for rules? I can see my students suddenly just writing down random words like crazy and insisting that they can see them.

We did things kind of subjectively. They had to make their case for what they saw and if they could convince myself and my co-teacher that it made sense we gave them the point. If they just said "I see it, I see it!" It wasn't good enough. (Like for a dog, they'd have to go "This is the nose, this is the eye, this is the ear..." etc. They could use Korean for the explanation through my coteacher but not for their submission words, so points were english based but justifications could be Korean (though I gave tended to be more lenient on sketchy sightings if the explanation was heavily english-slanted)
