I swiped this worksheet again from ESL Printables. I haven't tried it yet, but I plan to with my Grade 2-3 middle school girls, high level. The musical expressions shouldn't be too difficult as long as you go over them with the students first. I checked that the Korean translations are correct.
I've attached both worksheets and a brief lesson plan as well as 10 songs with YouTube links that I will use for the lesson.
I'm interested to see how my students react to some of the music styles!
Enjoy!

Hey!
Thanks for this lesson. My students really enjoyed it! You're in Yeosu? I'm also in Yeosu, who are you?

Thanks for uploading this, I did it with an afterschool class of six mid-level middle schoolers, with a few modifications, and it went all right. Surprising how many genres they didn't know. If I try it again I might put "pop" or "folk/traditional" in there.
The best ranked ones were:
1. Techno
2. Country (!!!)
The lowest ones were:
1. Blues (earned a combined nine points out of six students)
2. Jazz

This looks like a cool lesson!
I made a ppt to go with it. I embedded all the youtube videos...if they don't work for some reason on your computer...hit and miss at my school...then click on the title, they are all hyperlinked to the video.
For Latin Salsa, I had to make a change out as the original video was not available. Dancing with the Stars came up when I searched so that's what I put in.
Can't wait to try this lesson!

I did this lesson for my high level middle schoolers and high schoolers and it went great. I can't say that it taught them much English or gave them much practice but it sure was a great 'cultural' lesson!
I made a some song changes after a few classes:
I added a Pop genre to the list:
Pop - Taylor Swift - Belong with Me
(
)
Jazz - Louis Armstrong - What a Wonderful World
Rock - KISS - rock and roll all night (it blew their minds!)
Reggae - Bob Marley - One love
Hip Hop - I really don't like Dirty Rascal, so I played some 2 pac or Atsmosphere instead
Country - Garth Brooks - Friends in Low Places (carrie underwood is more pop country)

This lesson seems to presuppose that "rhythm" and "beat" are synonymous. I consider them to be quite distinct.

my friend told me about this. going to try implement it today or tomorrow! should be fun.
i could be wrong, but i believe a song's "beat" is basically the bass-line or maybe just the repetitive background percussion.

This lesson went well with my grade two boys. Held their interest for most (though I avoided showing the videos.) Changed a few of the songs as well. Was great to use the worksheet and have the kids saying "wicked!" cheers to this lesson's creator!
<for the worksheet though there is a mistake, there are two g's and two h's>

Just wanted to embed some working links, most of the videos originally posted to this lesson aren't working. Some of my classrooms won't access youtube directly, but I can watch videos that embedded here (yay!) so this is mostly for me, but if any of you are looking for ideas, I hope it helps! I also added a couple of categories: Bollywood, and Pop. I think these are pretty good examples of the musical styles in the lesson.
CLASSICAL: Prelude from Bach's Suite No. 1 - Rostropovich
JAZZ: I Love Being Here With You - Dianna Krall
ROCK and ROLL: Paradise City - Guns N Roses
LATIN: Hey Magdalehna - Sergio Mendes
OR
LATIN: Fista Pa'Los Rumberos - Latin Fire
BOLLYWOOD/INDIAN: Nimbooda - Aishwarya Rai
TECHNO: Sandstorm - Darude
REGGAE: One Love - Bob Marley
HIP HOP - Gangsters Paradise - Coolio
OR
HIP HOP: Crank That - Soulja Boy
BLUES: Give Me One Reason - Tracy Chapman
PUNK: Ruby Soho - Rancid
COUNTRY: Fishin' in the Dark - Nitty Gritty Dirty Band
POP: I Want It That Way - Backstreet Boys

I'm really looking forward to trying this lesson with my high school girls - I think I might add a karaoke game as well.

May not be entirely factually accurate but the English is and that's what's important. Just hate to see these going to waste
